SUMMARY The Senior Accountant is responsible for computing, classifying and recording financial transactions to ensure the financial records of the organization are accurate. The Senior Accountant also performs routine financial calculations and general ledger duties. The Senior Accountant may also check the accuracy of calculations performed by other employees.
DESCRIPTION • Assist with all company bookkeeping tasks including but not limited to; AR, AP, bank deposits, petty cash and weekly/monthly journal entries. • Monitor checking and saving balances in bank and in accounting software. • Check figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper codes. • Classify, allocate, record and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers. • Provide monthly reconciliation of bank and financial statements. • Must be detailed, organized and willing to do the entire position including filing. • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, work in a fast-paced office environment and work at all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors while fostering positive relationships. • Able to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent time management and prioritization skills and techniques. • Excellent knowledge of principles and processes for providing record keeping and financial flow from beginning to closing processes as well as accounting concepts. • Proficient in accounting software(s), with direct experience using Sys2k Accounting Software highly desired. • Intermediate to advanced experience in Word, Excel, Outlook, and all MS Office Suite-all versions. • Prior experience with payroll required; commission type payroll preferred. • Desire to grow professionally with a growing company in a fast paced environment.
EDUCATION AND LICENSES • Associates in Business or Accounting preferred or 5 years of experience in a similar or related position will be considered in lieu of degree. Automotive/dealership experience required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is primarily sedentary – candidates must be able to sit for up to eight (8) hours per shift with little opportunity to vary position. Required sensory abilities include hearing, sight, and speech.
