Senior Project Manager- Federal Program

Blinderman Construction is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our Federal Program. As a Senior Project Manager, you will oversee the completion of complex Federal construction projects, while providing guidance and mentoring to your project team. This is a remote position that supports our project teams with travel up to 25%.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Executive, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Oversee and manage all phases of assigned Federal Division projects
  • Develop, input, and monitor the master project schedule; responsible for the schedule delivery and meeting all deadlines
  • Manage project documentation including contract execution, bonds/insurance, submittals, schedules, RFIs, change proposals/orders, meeting minutes, quality control plan, and subcontractor management
  • Responsible for project financials including reporting, projections, cash flow, billing, profitability, and close-out/final payment
  • Identify and resolve issues and disputes; communicate delays and incidents Leadership
  • Review and supervise Project Team performance, ensuring that responsibilities and project deadlines are met
  • Prepare and report the monthly Project Success Plan and Job Status Report
  • Partner with Human Resources on all employee management responsibilities including staffing plans, hiring, development, and performance management
  • Promote project safety, ensure safety audits are conducted, and confirm subcontractor AHAs follow company and federal safety protocols
  • Assist in development of project quality control program and see that contract standards are met
  • Develop and cultivate long term relationships with owners, vendors, and sub-contractors
  • Assist the Preconstruction Department in work acquisition
  • Stay up to date on industry developments and best practices
  • Attend networking events, Company meetings, and presentations as required
  • Create a positive work environment by communicating effectively, respectfully, and leading by example

What You Offer

  • Minimum 10 years of technical experience in the construction industry required with a minimum of 5 years of Federal/ government construction experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or similar field required
  • Experience leading a diverse team and strong interpersonal communication to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and vendors
  • Ability to manage projects of moderate size and complexity without supervision
  • Expertise in understanding contracts, architectural plans, drawings, project schedules, and project financial management
  • Knowledge of industry software including Procore, Bluebeam, P6, Viewpoint, and e-Builder expected
  • Experience with SmartSheets software highly advantageous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and SharePoint
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Flexibility to work extended work hours/days to meet deadlines

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Work may be performed at our corporate office in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood or at current project’s job site
  • Airline travel to active jobsites may be required
  • Frequent walking, standing, sitting, use hands to handle objects
  • Occasional reaching, climbing, kneeling, crawling
  • At times may need to push or pull up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to work extended work hours/days to meet deadlines
