Under the direction of the Welding Supervisor, the Fitter/Welder will fit and weld parts to engineering specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Make sure that you and the people around you are working safely
Welding 1/16" up to 1" A36, Stainless Steel, and Manganese using the proper filler material
Fitting/assembling with assistance, includes reading and understanding blueprints
Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
Coordinate daily tasks to meet production goals
Determine what the proper tools and machinery is required to complete the production schedule
Follow fabrication schedule.
Complete a final inspection of all parts so that they meet the quality standard
Complete required monthly safety training.
Complete required pm's on department machinery.
Support both your internal and external customers.
Provide support and backup as needed.
All other assigned projects and or tasks.
2+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
Mechanical Blueprint Reading
The ability to lay out, position, align, and square parts
The ability to use a plasma torch
Verbal and Written Communication skills
Attention to Detail
Thoroughness
Problem-Solving skills
The ability to make decisions and follow through.
The ability to perform multiple welding disciplines such as; GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
3+ years of post-machining and fabrication inspection.
2 + years of experience as a fitter.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Welding certification preferred but not required.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Employees work in a shop/factory environment with moderate-to-heavy noise levels. Temperatures vary with outside conditions and can be the same as outside temperatures at times. Employees are exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
