Job Description

The Maintenance Lead works collaboratively with the General Manager to supervise and coordinate Park operations and maintenance of buildings, facilities, infrastructure, grounds and landscaping. Assists the General Manager to develop and implement short- and long-term plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, supervises and participates in operations, maintenance, grounds and landscaping activities of the Park.

  • Ensures the work of subordinate staff is performed safely and in compliance with LNI and other applicable federal, state and county legislation.

  • Provides on the job training to subordinate staff, assesses and recommends other formal training, assesses work performance of subordinate staff and advises the General Manger on staff meeting performance expectations; resolves performance issues with individual staff members not requiring formal discipline.

  • Conducts mornings rounds of the park to determine the existence of immediate concerns.

  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with Park By-laws and Rules.

  • Responds to member’s need for emergency assistance.

  • Prepares work reports and inputs data into park systems concerning types of repairs made, materials used, and cost of completed work assignments.

  • Purchases parts, tools and supplies needed.

  • Makes sure that all member and staff issues are confidential, respecting member and staff privacy.

  • Supports the development of consistent best practices and standardization including developing standard operating procedures.

  • Ensures that vehicles, equipment and tools are in good working order; maintains appropriate maintenance records and supplies.

  • Reports issues and required repairs to General Manager for scheduling and budgeting purposes.

  • Ensures pool facility and equipment are maintained in accordance with applicable standards.

  • Prepares weekly work plans for operations, maintenance, grounds and landscaping activities for review with the General Manager and assists the General Manger in the development of seasonal, yearly and long-range plans for the Park operations.

  • Plan and estimate materials and labor requirements for individual projects.

  • Reports to the General Manager on site compliance issues observed during daily operations by themselves or by crew members.

 

Required Knowledges, Abilities and Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of building, facilities, utilities, grounds and landscaping maintenance, operations and construction practices and methods.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standard skilled trades operations and repair methods and the materials and tools used in landscaping, grounds and building work.

  • Knowledge of Department of Labor and Industries requirements (LNI) and Federal, State and County legislation applicable to the work.

  • Ability to plan, direct, train and participate the work of skilled and semi-skilled workers and ensure that all work is performed safely in compliance with LNI regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches and detailed drawings.

  • Ability to inspect building maintenance and construction work for adherence to plans and specifications and tender/quote documents.

  • Ability to relate effectively with staff, the Board, members, guests, contractors and other service providers.

  • Proven oral and written communication skill and knowledge and the ability to use common office software in preparing and completing required documentation.

  • Able to perform physical laboring tasks that require bending, lifting and stretching.

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Post-secondary training relating to developing supervisory skills.

  • A valid Driver’s license.
