The Social Media Senior Manager will help develop the strategic direction and lead oversight of Biogen's corporate social media channels. S/he will serve as a social media and digital marketing subject matter expert and is the key support and contact for social media at Biogen.This role will contribute to a dynamic and evolving Corporate Communications department. The department is charged with developing and communicating to both internal and external audiences on a global basis an inspiring corporate narrative about Biogen's scientific leadership, our current and pipeline therapies, and our commitment to people with devastating neurological and genetic conditions.
The Senior Social Media Manager will inform social media strategy and execute on tactics through the day-to-day management of Biogen's corporate social media channels. The individual will develop and maintain a multi-channel social media calendar ensuring content pillars are consistently covered through always-on, engaging content and will continuously solicit and incorporate feedback from key stakeholders. The individual will build innovative, global social media campaigns across social channels which utilize paid, owned and earned strategies; s/he will have a strong interest in testing, learning and making data-driven decisions.
The individual is responsible for social media monitoring, listening and other analytics to assess real-time perceptions and proactively impact discussions; s/he will be a leader in crisis management responsibilities providing guidance and leading action plans. The individual will be called upon to lead cross-team working groups to develop key campaigns and will be responsible for ensuring that the projects are delivered according to committed scope, approved budget and targeted dates. The individual will be responsible for Social Media Governance developing and implementing important policies and procedures to ensure the health and compliance of Biogen's social media efforts including content approvals flows and training.
The individual will be a subject matter expert in social media trends and best practices and be able to effectively communicate those concepts to other stakeholders. This individual will support Corporate Affairs and internal US and Global stakeholders on the social media strategies that will help them achieve their strategic business objectives including the employee engagement efforts. S/he will be point of contact for social media management technology and ensure implementation is optimize for Biogen's needs. The individual must understand the therapy areas and brand strategies to collaborate with internal subject matter experts, functional partners in Medical and Market Access, agencies and other external partners, to support the industry-leading social media strategies and associated tactics for their respective customer targets.
As a member of the Global Social Media team this role will work collaboratively with colleagues in corporate affairs, countries, market access, investor relations and colleagues in global therapeutic options as well as research and development. This role will be essential in ensuring the Global Social Media team operates consistently, holistically and efficiently with operational excellence at its core. Main Responsibilities: Drive Strategic Direction of Social Media Channels and Measure/Analyze Effectiveness and Generate Insights: The Social Media Senior Manager drives channel strategies for Biogen's corporate social media; creates and maintains actionable metrics including monitoring and brand listening.
Identify through data, areas to optimize customer engagement strategies on social media to improve customer engagement, customer experience or volume/ROI. Responsible for corporate channel monitoring and escalation. Create, Manage and Approve Social Media Content, Campaigns and Calendar: The Social Media Senior Manager generates and highlights stories of the positive impact of Biogen's research, science and medicines.
Develop and Maintain Effective Social Media Governance: The Social Media Senior Manager also participates in the development and maintenance of efficient governance processes that meet regulatory and internal business requirements to ensure compliance among business leaders using social media, as well as divisions, regions, countries and business units within the Biogen organization. This lead also sets the direction for other functions to identify regulations and requirements affecting social media activities and translate them into consistent framework, processes and guidelines, defining the outer boundaries for Social Media operations.7+ years of communications or marketing experience. Experience working with commercial teams, communications, digital and social media.
Experience managing brand social media channels and executing paid, owned and earned campaigns. Experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within a matrix team; Strong organizational and communication skills required.
Willingness and ability to work with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders on complex issues. Ability to solicit critical information, assess potential opportunities, persuade others and shape/influence outcomes. Creativity, innovative in designing and implementing pre-launch, launch and post launch campaigns.Bachelor's Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, liberal arts or life sciences are required.
Project management training, experience, and/or certifications highly desirable. S/he will report to the Director, Digital Communications and will be based at Biogen's Cambridge, MA headquarters. Employment Type: Full-Time_Regular
