Annual Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000, Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus and Discretionary Annual Bonus

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Select, prepare, and mix coating solutions according to formulas and specifications.
  • Provide technical input to find creative ways to apply coatings on challenging and unusual applications.
  • Write coating procedures and/or other work instructions
  • Prepare the surface of medical devices and apply coatings while maintaining daily schedule and meeting customer and quality requirements.
  • Apply coatings on medical devices in accordance with specification and customer requirements.
  • Operate and maintain processing equipment including, but not limited to, coatings machine and friction tester.
  • Perform analytical testing on coated devices to characterize uniformity and performance of coatings.
  • Author technical reports to document the findings.
  • Complete and ensure adherence to application documents & process controls including SOP, work order instructions, process techniques, etc.
  • Use judgment of when to communicate and what to communicate with R&D team regarding assigned projects
  • Organize and maintain the R&D laboratory, including restocking items through purchasing.


  • Associates degree or B.S. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or similar focus.
  • 1-3 years of industrial experience in a laboratory setting; preferably medical devices or coatings required.
  • Ability to prioritize and efficiently complete tasks with consistency and accuracy, often under pressure and/or short deadlines.
  • Meticulous, highly organized, capable of completing high quality work.
  • Strong people skills with the ability to collaborate with co-workers as well as work independently.
  • Communicates effectively, orally and written, with internal and external customers.
  • Must be able to endure physical demands of position including repetitive lifting 10 lbs., standing for long periods of time, wearing required PPE while demonstrating safe work practices.
