Aerospace Engineer

Binera is seeking a motivated Aerospace Engineer to fill an entry-level position supporting NASA Human Spaceflight Campaign Analysis efforts.

The successful candidate will be involved in detailed analysis of NASA human spaceflight missions, with a particular focus on the development of mission concepts for human exploration of the Moon and Mars. The candidate will support the NASA Campaign Analysis Team and NASA Headquarters in the initial design and assessment of human reference architectures. Work products generated through this project will directly inform the future of human spaceflight.

Specific areas of concentration will include: design of exploration mission environmental control and life support systems (ECLSS) and evaluation of human mission logistics requirements. The candidate will apply these concepts to help NASA integrate element design, mission logistics, and risk into overall campaign constructs and to develop of integrated timelines for NASA exploration program.

The candidate will have the opportunity to apply a wide range of engineering, operations research and mathematical concepts while developing novel methods for modeling and assessing the feasibility and reliability of future Lunar and Mars exploration architectures.  The candidate will be expected to work with other team members to meet program milestones and to support senior analysts/engineers and the Chief Scientist. 

The successful candidate will be highly ethical and will possess exemplary organizational and problem solving skills and attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communications skills are required as is advanced knowledge of MS Excel (VBA, etc.).

Candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university. Concentration in aerospace engineering with substantial coursework in aerodynamics, spacecraft/aircraft performance and design, systems engineering, mathematics, probability or statistics, preferred. Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Experience Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of relevant industry experience.
