Primary responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining high-speed production and packaging equipment. Working knowledge of practices, tools equipment and materials utilized within the mechanics trade, experience in repairing and troubleshooting production equipment.
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, performs varied duties and assignments involving judgment. Resolves routine questions or problems, referring only complex issues to higher level. Abilities include great evaluation skills, originality and ingenuity required.
Helps keep machinery, equipment, and plant structure in operating condition
Trouble shoot, repair, and replace machinery as required.
Repairs machines, fixtures, gauges, and fits replacement parts and/or makes replacement parts as required.
Checks and repairs test instruments.
Must be able to do plumbing, heating and roofing repairs.
Capable of operating precision hand tools, and electronic equipment.
Read sketches and mechanical drawings to determine layout of assigned work.
Design, fabricate, weld, and install equipment as required.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and PM completed.
Monitor equipment operation making any necessary adjustments
Moves equipment to new locations.
Adjusts machines for production when adjustment is beyond the scope of operator.
Modifies equipment as required.
Installs new equipment including hook up of gas, water, air, etc.
Maintains and installs piping, fittings, valves, gauges, and controls for hydraulic systems, gas and air lines.
Must be able to operate fork trucks and other lifting devices
Must follow lockout/tagout procedures
Attending regular CPR and safety training
Job Requirements and Specific Qualifications
8+ years as a maintenance mechanic within the manufacturing industry; strong mechanical skills with pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, etc.
Completion of a state accredited technical school program, or equivalent formal education and field experience, demonstrating commensurate proficiency in at least 2 of the following areas:
Mechanical maintenance of production equipment
Utility systems maintenance and repair
Capable of reading sketches and mechanical drawings
Mechanical Fabrication/Machine Shop Preferred: AAS in an Engineering Technology
cGMP maintenance training and experience
Facilities and utilities equipment maintenance experience including: HVAC, boilers and air compressors
Equipment maintenance experience including: automated cranes, conveyers, sorting systems, and forklifts
Organization and prioritizing skills
Ability to complete work on schedule
Attention to detail
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
