Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will have a lean mindset, with proven process improvement experience in various operations processes including distribution, supply chain, or material handling. We are looking for outstanding communicators that thrive in an environment where they can help solve problems and deliver business-changing results through structured problem-solving methodologies. Strong project management skills, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication, are requirements.

Duties, Responsibilities, & Objectives

Leadership

  • Capability to quickly establish credibility, influence project teams and persuade professionals at all levels.
  • Manage Key Projects and deliverables to distribution center teams and key stakeholders
  • Partners with key stakeholders and effectively communicates up, down, and across the organization
  • Leads with clear direction of priorities in a climate of change
  • Deliver results through project implementation across several facilities including DC operations in a 24/7 environment
  • Build the skills of all Functional leaders and associates through hands-on interactions and personal mentoring in lean management tools, cultural change leadership and strategy deployment
  • Deliver structure-based problem solving methods with stakeholders and collaborate to drive cost, quality, service, and safety initiatives.
  • Lead daily and weekly project management sessions as needed with Distribution Center stakeholders
  • Work through Obeya to facilitate progress on continuous improvement and cost savings projects, accountable to coordinate cross-functional resources, as well as monitoring, meeting, and reporting project deliverables

Lean Mentality
  • Effectively collaborates w/ cross functional teams to drive value through problem solving and creative thinking to accomplish short-term and long-term goals
  • Apply and teach appropriate lean tools as needed - VSM, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, JIT, Kanban, Visual Management, Pull systems, DMAIC, PFMEA, Root cause, 8D, and 5-why analysis etc.
  • Ability to independently facilitate Executive Strategy sessions, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Quick hit projects from definition through execution
  • Lead the analysis of current state & provide multiple what-if scenarios for improved efficiencies. Understand, calculate, and present financial impacts to Executive Leadership
  • Ensure that the design for new and existing process flows will meet increased annual demand
  • Understand, enforce, and adhere to all safety regulations and protocols
  • Develop, as needed, Work Instructions (TWI), engineering drawings, specifications, and their interpretations

Project Management
  • Lead cross-functional projects of large complexity- process improvements and/or capital expenditure projects
  • Ensure cross functional alignment on scope, budget, schedule, and resources.
  • Develop and execute charters, action plans and project timelines with plans in place for long term sustainment of results
  • Lead team meetings as needed to drive results.
  • Establish appropriate metrics and report on project progress, risks, and results. This includes executive-level reporting, management updates, and best practice sharing throughout the organization.
  • Ensure process changes are fully integrated through documentation, communication, perseverance, and consistency.
  • Drive accountability for team to successfully complete tasks.
  • Acts as CEO of project - Takes accountability and possesses a sense of urgency for entire project outcome.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or equivalent years of directly related experience in distribution center management or Lean/Continuous Improvement roles
  • 2+ years of experience with proven operations process improvements (distribution experience preferred)
  • Previous Facilitator and Coaching experiences where problem solving, process development and/or behavior change methods and tools have been used
  • Advanced project management skills in MS Project
  • Advanced Data analysis skills in MS Excel, Pareto, Control charts, PowerPivot, and/or VBA
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Periodic travel may be required up to 25%

Desired Qualifications
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • PMP certification
  • WMS, ERP, Distribution, and Inventory Management experience
  • Change Management Certification
