Trailer Mechanic

Big M is seeking a mechanic that will perform skilled repair and maintenance of transportation vehicles and trailers, inspect motorized and mechanical equipment, maintain inventory, and diagnose problems and determine the extent of necessary repairs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Assess trucks and trailers to accurately diagnose and repair issue

· Provide routine inspections of trucks and trailer

· Keep an accurate log of all worked performed

· Maintain and clean garage equipment and tools to ensure they are kept in a safe and usable condition at all times

· Perform maintenance on trailers

· Replace tires and brake drums

· Repair Electrical

· Adhere to company work safety policies

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

· May require lifting up to 50-75 lbs

· Combination of sitting, standing, climbing, bending and walking

· Excellent visual and auditory skills to be able to inspect trailers and clearly communicate with other mechanics

· The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold

Preferred Requirements:

· Experience in equipment maintenance

· Mechanical background with a basic knowledge of equipment

· Experience in trucking, LTL or diesel mechanics
