What is Big Citizen?

Big Citizen is an Atlanta based young creative company, currently operating three successful restaurants -The Lawrence, a casual fine-dining neighborhood restaurant and cocktail bar, Bon Ton is a funky, casual, Viet-Cajun restaurant & cocktail bar in midtown Atlanta, and Wonderkid is a modern diner concept in the Dairies development on Memorial drive close to Grant Park. In addition to brick and mortar restaurants we are also known for creating highly sought-after pop-up & events like Miracle Bar Atlanta. We are currently in development of multiple culinary concepts in development slated to open in Atlanta next year, with designs for creating a presence in amazing culinary cities like Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles and more in the next five years.

We have a strong reputation for creating great bars & company culture that listens and evolves with a great team of managers, service staff, & culinary professionals, but to become the innovative, creative company of the future, we need amazing Front of House managers to invest in that possess passion and drive to help us raise the ceiling of what our restaurants can be as we evolve our current restaurants and get ready for the new concepts opening next year and into the unforeseeable future.

Big Citizen is seeking an experienced and hard working front of house manager who is creative & organized with a talent for creating amazing teams to take on the role of a General Manager at one of our restaurants and help us grow into the kind of company people want to experience.

 You might already be an experienced General Manager with a deep understanding of the numbers and systems that make great restaurants run and have become a great mentor able to pass on exceptional skills & insight to a hungry team or service professionals. Maybe you are an experienced hardworking Front of House manager with a talent for food & beverage service, training, communication, and creating organization. If either of these statements is true then you deserve an innovative company that you can grow & create with, and we might be exactly the work family for you to evolve with. What we need:

Minimum 3+ years upscale casual fine dining service experience

At least 2 year, but preferably 3+ years’ experience in a restaurant management position such as Service Manager, Bar Manager, Floor Manager, with at least 1 yr as  an Assistant General Manager, or General Manager, or equivalent thereof with duties to have included all the following:

 

Passion for hospitality, food, and beverage

A committed work ethic with a “can-do” approach

Understanding of the importance of balance in flavors & life/work

Strong attention to detail.

Honesty & self-awareness

The ability to recognize strengths and weaknesses in self and team members, and to create strategies to properly address and optimize them

Help in the design, and evolution of all food menus.

Assist Executive Chef in maintaining a standard of high quality plates both design and taste wise.

Expediting in a focused, organized manner.

Hiring, Firing, & Scheduling

Training, mentoring & leading diverse BOH and FOH teams of all experience levels

Ordering & Inventory

Food & labor cost optimization.

Advanced computer literacy with an ability to effectively utilize modern POS systems, spreadsheets, and communication programs.

Ability to work positively while on your feet for long periods in a fast-paced team focused environment.

Ability to communicate positively and help create a strong FOH & BOH team dynamic

Experience in effectively educating all staff about food, beverage, service, and restaurant culture.

Proficient in calm multi-tasking in dynamic high stress situations

An understanding of cooking, serving and bartending with the ability to do those tasks

Ability to take & give constructive, positive feedback on creative & organizational processes

Ensure that the kitchen, servers and bar operate in a timely way that meets our quality standards

Create and maintain a clean, organized, kitchen and FOH environment that complies and exceeds sanitation regulations and safety standards

Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Forward thinking, and preventative “can-do” attitude that isn’t simply waiting for the next situation

Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation, using communication, creativity, tenacity, emotional and mental intelligence

Ability to deliver on our Big Citizen core values and brand standards
