Job Title: Children’s Ministry Director Effective Date: January 2023
Reports to: Lead Pastor
Job Status: Full-Time Exempt
Definition & Summary Of Position:
The primary focus of the Children’s Ministry Director is to lead and implement the overall vision and strategy of BCC in regards to children birth through 5th grade.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish annual teaching content map for all children’s weekend classes
- Direct the 2nd-5th grade weekly large gathering ensuring consistency with the adult large gathering
- Oversee the management, coordination, assimilation and training of all children’s ministry volunteers
- Coordinate weekend hospitality and safety of children
- Establish and maintain a leadership development process for child and adult leaders
- Ensure healthy communication and partnership with parents in the spiritual growth of their children
- Ensure relational discipleship opportunities are regularly available to children that are consistent with the overall church strategy developed by the Discipleship Pastor
- Develop initiatives, trips, events and activities that present opportunities to children to grow in their personal relationship with Jesus and in Christ-centered relationships

Ministry Role: to help families and children, in 5th grade and younger, know, experience and follow Jesus, and to equip parents to be the primary disciple makers in their children’s lives
Compensation: full-time, annual salary (based upon experience, education, capabilities). Retirement contribution, cell phone reimbursement, sabbatical days, professional development account, and PTO.

Qualifications:
Spiritual
-Display a growing faith with a vibrant, consistent dependency on Jesus Christ.
-Be committed to love his/her family well.
-Possess a heart for God and a heart for people. (Matthew 22:37-40, 28:18-20)
-Demonstrated by reflecting the character of Christ. (Philippians 2:1-11)
-Multiplying priorities of Christ. (Luke 8:15; John 15:8)
-Be consistent in his/her devotional life, including prayer and Bible study. (2 Tim 3:16; Rom. 12:12; Phil. 4:6-7)
-Demonstrate ability to disciple and relate well to people.
Personal
-Character- honest, humble, supportive, good steward. (Romans 12:3)
-Chemistry- care for one another as God has cared for us and share our staff values for our team culture. (Romans 12:4-6a & Philippians 2:2b-8)
Educational/Doctrinal
-BA or BS undergraduate degree or proportionate ministry experience.
-Agreement/alignment with BCC’s statement of faith (www.bettendorfcc.com/statement-of-faith).
Skill Sets
-One who loves and relates well to children and adults.
-Someone possessing strong organizational and communication skills.
-One who enjoys teamwork and can lead teams, but who also takes personal initiative.
-A person who is proven in the area of equipping others for ministry.
-Able to handle the Scriptures effectively in a ministry setting and speak effectively.
-Proven ministry experience in working with children.
-Ability to minister to a diverse group of people. Good conflict resolution skills.

Primary Ministries:
-Sunday Morning Programming
-Equip parents to become the primary disciplers in their children’s lives.
-Events for and related to children and parents.
-Provide engaging opportunities for kids and families to invite friends.
-Provide growth opportunities for kids and families.
-Provide service opportunities for kids and families.
Responsibilities:
-Disciple kids and families. Consistently connect to set example.
-Identify, deploy, and sustain strategic kid’s ministry programming.
-Identify, train, empower, and care for volunteer leaders.
-Set goals, track results and make changes accordingly.
-Develop/execute annual budget.
-Oversee Child Protection Plan and background checks.
Responsible for:
This person should eagerly and humbly learn ministry skills. Responsibilities will increase as he/she proves his/her competence in each ministry skill. He/She should be initially responsible for:
-Maintaining a personal walk with God.
-Developing positive relationships with kids and their parents.
-Completing the 90 day onboarding with the Lead Pastor and appropriate department leaders.
-Fulfilling weekly, monthly, and yearly ministry tasks.
-Learning the church family culture and working in alignment with BCC leadership
