Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of our core, backbone, and distribution networks. 

 

General Accountabilities

  • Consults with management to analyze computer system needs for management information and functional operations, to determine scope and priorities of projects, and to discuss system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
  • Recommends and develops plans for systems development and operations, hardware and software purchases, budget, and staffing.
  • Collaborates with internal partners to solve complex designs issues and create a solution to be carried out that aligns with business or customer needs.
  • Ongoing path evaluation and link optimization for maximum network performance.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors management information systems policies and controls to ensure data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Support all core locations including power, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Negotiates and contracts with consultants, technical personnel, and vendors for services and products.
  • Provides support to end users in the selection, procurement, usage, and maintenance of software programs and hardware.
  • Develop network architecture and configuration standards for backbone and customer networks.
  • Publish Monthly or On-demand network utilization and other performance statistics.
  • Develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery plans.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: One to two years' related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with wireless networking technology.
  • Experience configuring Juniper routers and Arista switches.
  • Knowledge of Cisco network switches and routers, VLANS, QOS, Firewalls, VPNS, MPLS, and SD-WAN.
  • Knowledge of the following: BGP Routing, DDOS mitigation techniques, Transit peering design and monitoring, CDN cashing design and implementation, DWDM optical transport networks, SNMP protocol, OTN-G.709 standards, 
  • Layer 2 Ethernet services (E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree), SDWAN network design and implementation
  • OSS/BSS systems
  • Telecommunications documentation (COLRs, ASRs, LOAs, CFAs).
  • Preferable Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, MEF CECP, CALIX Certified Professional training

 

Skills

  • Ability to manage others, delegate responsibility and provide support.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting enterprise networks consisting of switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, and VoIP/SIP.
  • Knowledge of IT network, hardware, and software administration and support processes and best practices.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong follow-up skills: ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs.
  • Strong knowledge of LAN switching and IP routing protocols.
