Reports to the County Clerk and records and files legal documents for the County, falling under the jurisdiction of the County Clerk. Responsibilities are performed under supervision of the County Clerk and/or Administrative Assistant.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

This position must maintain various permanent county records with a high level of accuracy with minimum number of errors. Answers inquiries and assists the general public daily by telephone and in person relating to records that are maintained in the County Clerks office. Must have general knowledge of other county and state office functions.

Issues, files and records marriage licenses daily. Forwards original coupons and marriage report monthly to Little Rock. Answers correspondence related to marriage records and prepares certified copies.

Maintains all county court, quorum court, and county administrative and other records. Assists archivist in... records management.

Maintains, files and records Articles of Incorporation, Minister's Credentials, Certificates of Business, and Physician's Certificates. Prepares receipts and collects various fees. Closes and balances the day sheets for deposits and prepares daily bank deposit.

Issues liquor tax permits and receipts, and maintains all records pertaining thereto. Opens and sorts mail daily. Handles, responds and composes correspondence.

Issues Liquor tax permits and various licenses required by state and county laws. Enters data into computer and maintains electronic records and indexes. Maintains tax millage rate information and assists the public with petitions to meet the Equalization Board.

Prepares notices of changes in assessments; assists in preparation of amended abstract and also roll-back calculations. Researches tax books and prepares tax certificates of the County Clerk under seal.. Conducts genealogy searches for the public who come in to the office as well as by correspondence.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneQUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of county and state regulations and perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma or equivalent is required as well as training in secretarial and clerical skills. Minimum of two years working experience in County Government or equivalent in related environment is required. Knowledge of general clerical procedures, computers and applications, microfilm processing.OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:The incumbent must have excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills.

The incumbent must possess good computer and general office practices and procedures skills as well as be proficient in the use and operation of all associated office machines and equipment. Must have the ability to make independent decisions as well as have the ability to present facts, recommendations and directives effectively in oral and written form. All deputies are cross-trained to fill the vacancies of other deputies in the office.WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:Ensures that all daily contacts made with the office are handled with courtesy and that information and assistance is provided in a professional, efficient and timely manner.
