Belco Forest Products located in Shelton Washington is looking for an experienced Market Development Manager (MDM) for Florida, including North, Central, South and Florida Panhandle regions to join our growing team!   

The Market Development Manager is a remote (home office) outside sales role preferably located in the Orlando or Tampa area.  The MDM is responsible for maximum market penetration using new and old tools to support maximum wood volume growth, revenue generation, and profitability. This role is accountable for developing the market for Belco products in a geographical region that will occasionally require overnight travel within the territory or bordering states. The MDM is responsible for maintaining existing business, identifying, and developing new regional consumption of Belco products through existing and new distribution channels for the residential and multifamily markets. The MDM for Belco works closely with builders, users, specifiers, dealers, and distributors to secure preference and written specification for our product. Reporting to the V.P. of Sales & Marketing, the MDM will be responsible for identifying customer needs, forecast sales growth, and develop relationships with key users, influencers, and decision makers.

  • Achieve established sales/revenue goals and metrics 

  • Cultivate new relationships of trust and secure product specifications with designers, architects, building owners, contractors, builders, dealers, and distributors for Belco products 

  • Maintain existing relationships of trust with builders, dealers, and distribution partners as well as architects and designers  

  • Advance our desired market share position by creating value to attract new users and channel partners through strategic planning and plan execution in your assigned region 

  • Develop and deliver a high level of sales communication through specific activities, direct contact, presentations, and follow-up communications to close sales in a professional manner 

  • Manage all daily activities through the company CRM including calendaring, task lists, notes, and opportunity management 

  • Effectively communicate the full value derived from our products, service and system solutions to users and channel partners management and sales teams 

  • Be self-motivated, a team player and accessible to customer needs 

  • Prospect for new business-to-business partnerships (B2B), and builder/end user pull demand through management of pipeline opportunities 

  • Create, plan, and deliver compelling presentations on Company products virtually and in-person to all levels of prospective customers 

  • Be a technical expert on the Belco's line of products including the use/durability of each, integrating value into customer strategic goals 

  • Monitor competition by gathering current market information; pricing, products/new products, delivery schedules etc. 

  • Manage customer complaints with solution recommendations to management 

  • Must have valid driver's license in good standing, reliable car, and ability and willingness to drive/travel over 50% of the time 

Education, Experience and Demonstrated Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, construction management or related fields preferred and/ or equivalent of five-years of sales or construction experience 

  • Construction experience in single family residential construction management is desired  

  • Five-years of experience in dealers sales to contractors, specifically the single family residential preferred 

  • Five-years of experience in strategic value-added sales 

  • Proven exceptional time management skills 

  • Demonstrated understanding and application of the consultative selling processes  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS, Outlook, and MileIQ) and other tools such as SalesForce.com, Adobe PDF products and Concur expense reporting applications 

  • Excellent written, verbal, and remote communication skills 

  • Ability to develop strong ongoing relationships through telephone calls and virtual meetings with prospective and existing customers 

  • Clear understanding and ability to apply SWOT and market analysis/impacts etc. in the creation of a strategic sales plan 

  • Ability to make effective and compelling cold calls (in-person, writing and telephone) 

  • Ability to identify all decision makers in the selection, specification, purchase and use of our products

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 

Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in a home office or in the field. Belco will be provided with its own computer workstation and mobile telephone (or company stipend). This position often is required to drive a personal motor vehicle to customer offices and development sites. Belco highly values employee safety. When driving while on official company business, all safety guidelines regarding distracted driving should be observed, including use of cell phones and other electronic devices. 

The MDM typically works in a quiet low stress environment. However, the environment may become more stressful when pending business deadlines and requirements must be met.
