Job Description

We are seeking for a Behavioral Health Technician to join our team at our residential/detox facilities in San Diego, CA!


  • All shifts available - 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts available, weekends as needed
  • Day Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm, 2nd Shift: 4:00pm - 12:30am; 12:00 - 8:30am
  • Full-time and part-time available
  • Full-time employees are eligible for medical, vision, and dental insurance

Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing structure, guidance and support for patients during daily and weekend activities. The position is physically demanding and requires extensive amounts of walking and standing. Applicants must be able to remain on their feet throughout the shift.

Individuals in recovery are encouraged to apply, but must be in recovery for at least 2+ years.

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) will be directly interacting with patients and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Assist with the supervision of patients' in their daily activities
  • Ensure the patient’s follow clinical schedule
  • Transport patients to and from Treatment & Detox facilities, as needed
  • Make continuous rounds of the facility to ensure patient safety
  • Redirecting and reporting patient’s if rules are broken
  • Ensure housekeeping and upkeep of buildings and grounds are clean
  • Get rooms ready for patient admission and discharges
  • Promote a favorable/positive work atmosphere
  • Attend in-services and educational training as necessary and as assigned
  • Seek out learning experiences and incorporate new knowledge in practice
  • Maintain flexibility and adaptability to expected and unexpected changes in the work environment
  • Report personal symptoms of suspected illness of contagious diseases to Facility Supervisor/COO
  • Maintains safety of the physical environment
  • Organize and function independently in an office environment
  • Required to maintain certifications up to date: (CPR, PCI/Aggression, HIPAA, HIV/AIDS, Infection Control)
  • Complete training in UDS (Urine Drug Screen) collection
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned


  • Direct patient care experience or a AA degree in Psychology preferred
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and a minimum of 5 years' driving experience
  • 12 Step Programs - Addiction Recovery
  • Previous Behavioral Health Tech experience with inpatient populations, knowledge of substance abuse recovery, or individuals in recovery for 2+ years
  • Bilingual a plus but not required
