Your tasks and responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role, Princinpal Engineer API Plant PCS are to:
o Optimize production processes and logistics with regard to
safety, environment, cost, quality and regulatory requirements.
o Provide key technical input for the definition of concepts for
new plants, improvement of existing equipment and/or the identification
of alternative equipment or installations
o Ensure production equipment uptime through preventive or
predictive measures as well as small modifications and repairs
o Ensure reliability of Production Unit process equipment,
facilities and utilities
o Provide the necessary technical expertise for troubleshooting and
resolving problems with Production Unit processes and equipment
o Development, optimization and overall quality of work plans,
processes and standards
o HESS compliance - support Bayer Berkeley's commitment to safety
by complying with the programs regarding health, safety and protection
of the environment. The incumbent demonstrates safe work practices,
contributes to safety meetings, provides input to relevant personnel
(e.g., operators, supervisors, technicians) regarding safety issues and
ensures resolution of non-conforming conditions
Maintenance / Reliability
o Establish, initiate and analyze preventative maintenance (PM) and
calibration programs
o Collect, analyze and report equipment downtime information
o Identify, report and ensure resolution of critical equipment
items
o Develop, review and implement recommendations to improve
reliability of infrastructure and production systems
o Maintaining the Calibration, Maintenance and Safety procedures in
defined area of responsibility
o Specification and strategy of spare parts needed to meet
reliability objectives.
o Coordinate of maintenance activities and shutdown requirements
for API production equipment and facilities
Project Support, Execution and Management
o Project management and detailed engineering of smaller projects
(AFE, construction management, quality, budget and optimization.
o Provide plant and production input and project engineering
support for large projects, (AR, >41 million)
o Perform installation and operational commissioning and

Who you are
new equipment, resolving technical equipment issues, developing turn-
over packages, etc.
cGMP Compliance
o Participating in audits conducted by internal and external
agencies
o Resolution of Quality action items, write Engineering Assessments
as Subject Matter Expert
o Perform Risk Assessments and resolution of risk analysis
o On-going participation in technical and non-technical training
o Understanding of relevant SOPs, Guidelines and Regulatory
requirements

WHO YOU ARE

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • BS 8+ years experience OR MS 4+ years OR PhD 2+ years of engineering experience preferably in a reliability function or an equivalent OR an equivalent combination of education andexperience
  • Experience with regulatory and cGMPrequirements for pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, including equipment, utilities, and facilities
  • cGMP compliance, high purity water systems, clean room HVAC systems process instrumentation and control systems
  • Experience with Process Control Systems, including DCS, PLC, instrumentation and low voltage electrical systems is required
  • Understanding of industry guidelines, regulatory requirements, relevant SOPs
  • Demonstrated experience with engineering project execution and project management
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complexity of production equipment / systems and their supporting facilities, and utility systems
  • High level of urgency and is able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Flexibility to participate in rotational on-call support and/or weekend coverage on occasion
  • Proficient computer skills to include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to support and prioritize many diverse activities simultaneously while meeting schedule commitments
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide customer base

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP experience
