Position Overview:
The Field Service Technician position exists to oversee and maintain power generation equipment on rent with customers in a designated region. This person will be responsible for maximizing equipment run time by performing maintenance as needed and ensuring that all equipment is in proper, working condition at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on industrial natural gas and diesel generators (5.7L to 21.9L in engine size). Basic maintenance items include oil change, spark plug change, oil and air filters, overhead valve adjustments, checking batteries, load bank testing, etc.
- Mobilization and demobilization of generators to and from well sites. Be present and perform all startup functions including tying in electrical cabling, fuel lines, and synchronizing if required
- Respond to call outs/alarms on a 24/7 basis while working or on call. Work may include nighttime and weekend call outs
- Maintain sufficient parts inventory to meet planned and unplanned inventory needs
- Hookup and maintenance of natural gas, diesel, and propane fuel systems at well sites
- Ensure the accuracy of all activity in Baseline's operations management system, RigER: this will include maintaining timely and accurate inputs to RigER from all Field Service personnel
- Communicate professionally, efficiently, and frequently with customers (production foreman, pumpers, etc.) when issues arise.
- Maintain a Safety-first culture that always ensures the protection and safety of Baseline employees and customers. This can include but is not limited to; attending customer safety meetings, auditing Field Service safety practices, frequently verifying that all work meets Baseline and customer standards, etc.
Tech Skill Requirements:
- 4-6+ years of mechanical experience and/or certification from trade school
- Ideal candidate would have extensive background in oil and gas operations, oilfield service, equipment rental, heavy equipment, or related industry
- Working knowledge of natural gas power generation products or similar rotating equipment
- Skilled PM ability with independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with considerable latitude to specific situations
- Repairs, troubleshoots, maintains, and is responsible for run time, mechanical, and electrical systems of natural gas and diesel generators
- Advanced level electrical knowledge and AVR and controller tuning and programming.
- Keeps truck and/or workspace/customer site organized and clean; knows where tools and equipment are and maintains neat work area
- Strong knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and ability to guide others in safe practices
