Job Description

We are seeking a Direct Hire-Warranty Quality Engineer to join our team! You will be responsible for the design and development of intelligent systems and industrial systems control.
 

Warranty Quality Engineer – North America Performance Solutions

 

The Warranty Quality Engineer is a Product Expert that will be responsible for detailed analysis of all part returns processed through the Monroe Quality Lab (i.e. analysis reports, hands on support) for its performance solution business accounts. The role will lead the communication of the part return analysis results with the warranty manager and the plant quality team in an effective and timely execution of these core processes to reduce and eliminate customer warranty claims by improving products, processes and implementing permanent corrective actions. Additionally, the person will be the subject matter expert for all part return investigations and will be the source of associated product knowledge for the company.

 

  • Part Return Analysis
  • Be the lead contact for all part returns.
    • Responsible for completion of analysis reports per internal and customer requirements.
    • Inspect and document incoming returns and determine root-cause failure based on lab findings.
    • Collect, summarize, and communicate test data to business units, product engineering, quality, manufacturing and customers.
    • Act as technical contact for launched programs for warranty concerns and maintenance activities for lessons learned information.
    • Assist in the maintenance of the warranty groups IATF16949 and ISO9001 certification and related procedures.
    • Maintain lab area, equipment and facilities.
    • Support and adhere to EH&S policies and procedures.

 

Education, Experience, Professional Certification, & Functional Competencies:

 

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, or Industrial Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in testing, failure analysis investigations, or automotive activities

Desired Skills: Mechanical aptitude for test equipment and measurement operations

Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time

Analytical and problem solving abilities

Self-starter, self-directed, and self-motivated

Strong documentation skills

Strong attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Team orientation and collaborative approach to work

Must adhere to Tenneco policies and procedures to promote safety and work quality

Warranty Leadership: Warranty Leadership is the knowledge of customer warranty management systems and support practices. This competency includes the ability to efficiently and effectively assess warranty performance, and use metrics to drive continual improvements.

 

Leadership: The acting of leading others toward a defined goal. This competency is necessary to align cross-functional team members toward the effective and timely completion of actionable items.

 

Data Science and Business Analytics:

The skills and expertise necessary to navigate the process of transforming data into insight for making sound business decisions.

 

Advance Quality Tools & Statistical Techniques: The knowledge of a wide range of problem solving tools and methods, including statistics, combined with the ability to select and apply them to test hypotheses, model performance, make data based decisions and lucidly convey findings for a given target audience.

 

Effective Problem Solving: This competency is tied to the systematic and validated identification of root causes, and corresponding countermeasures. Additionally, a critical element of this competency is the application of double loop learning which aims to not only identify a solution for the preceding causal state, but to also analyze and address the systemic conditions leading to that causal state. Finally, effective problem requires that solutions have adequate controls to ensure sustainability, and that they are cascaded to relevant parts of the business for prevention occurrence.
