Gate Attendant

Reports to: Director of Guest Services, Rooms Manager and/or Supervisors

Classification: Hourly

Division: Operations

Department: Guest Services

Scope: Provides and exceptionally warm and gracious arrival and departure experience for all guests and potential guests.

General Purpose: To enrich the lives of our guests and colleagues, as well as the reputation and financial standing of our resort.

Essential Duties:

Operational Duties

  • Distinguish between members, day guests, vendors, colleagues and overnight guests, providing the appropriate directions and parking credentials to each guest type
  • Accurately complete daily visitor/shift logs which include the name, destination, license plate number of day guests and vendors
  • Prevent unauthorized vehicles from entering the resort
  • Operate gates in a safe and efficient manner
  • Collect parking fees from day guests
  • Maintain an accurate account of bank issuance
  • Timely and accurate completion of daily task lists and service logs
  • Comply with all OSHA, Health Department and resort regulations
  • Regular and predictable attendance

Guest Experience Enrichment

  • Greet all guests, vendors, members and colleagues upon arrival at the front drive by name, providing clear and accurate directions; wish departing guests a fond farewell
  • Ensure all guest arrivals are announced via radio to the appropriate departments
  • Provide guests with directions, recommendations, and information about the resort and resort offerings as needed
  • Handle all guest interactions with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism, accommodating special requests whenever possible
  • Resolve guest opportunities in an appropriate and efficient manner, in accordance with resort guidelines; ensures all opportunities are reported through the Guest Opportunity Log

Knowledge and Learning

  • Be intimately familiar with the entire property, all of its amenities and its history
  • Have a knowledge of safety and security practices and emergency/accident procedures
  • Successfully complete training/certification process
  • Maintain acceptable service audit scores
  • Attend colleague meetings as required
  • Participate in ongoing training

Position Requirements:

  • A warm and friendly disposition; prior experience in customer service an asset but not required
  • Good organization skills and attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of the surrounding area
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Ability to follow instruction as well as work independently
  • Ability to respond properly in any emergency or safety situations
  • Must be available to work both day and evening shifts, weekends and holidays

Physical Demands:

Essential duties require: long periods of hearing and speaking. To move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces and steps. To grasp and write with/on a pen and clipboard. Normal vision (corrected) including close and color, hearing and verbal communication.

Environmental Conditions:

Duties are primarily performed indoors but occasionally duties may be assigned outdoors in the elements.
