Position Vacancy - Associate Director for Camp Operations, Part Time
Responsibilities
Assist Camp Director with scheduling, programming and staff supervision Create all parent and staff orientation materials in conjunction with the Camp Director Facilitate evening and weekend camp meetings to provide orientation for parents and staff Represent Camp at in-house promotional events and 5-10 promotional camp fairs (on weekends when applicable) Inventory materials before, during and at the end of camp and in collaboration with Assistant Director of Camp, coordinate ordering and inventory storage. Serve as liaison with other college departments with regard to maintenance and operations during spring and summer camps Coordinate lunch with cafeteria and other college programs Document, update and coordinate distribution all formal procedures for parents and staff, ie handbooks and forms Represent the Camp with regard to NYC DOHMH, the American Camp Association, and other vendors Act as a provisional Camp Director in the Director's absence Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed
Qualifications
BA required, Master's degree preferred Self-starter and be able to work independently as well as follow directions easily Must have 3-5 years of experience working in a Day Camp setting Flexibility to accommodate camp ramp up and Spring and Summer Camp schedule Experience working with children 4-16, including children and families needing extra support Strong critical thinking, problem solving ability and flexibility Must have experience and a high level of comfort with various student registration and data management systems
Skills
Excel, filing, word processing Time management Research and writing Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills Fluency in Spanish a plus, but not required Ability to carry up to 20lbs for camp fair set ups.Start Date Immediate - This position includes 1-2 weeks of Spring Camp, 8-9 weeks of Summer Camp, and one to two part time days weekly from March 1 - June 12 to prepare for Camp.
