The Project Manager leads the project team in the field and is directly accountable for the safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance for delivery of projects in accordance with contractual requirements. This position is responsible to provide effective leadership to the project team and ensure quality and timely completion of the project. Duties may vary as necessary to support and motivate the project team necessary to foster great client relations and develop our employees

This position is responsible for safe work plans, client negotiations, risk management, cost estimation, contract management and execution strategy. In addition, the PM is responsible for the commercial aspects of the project, managing the full project financials as well as business development activities to position for and secure future projects.

The role requires a strong and diverse understanding of heavy civil works and building construction with the ability to work under pressure in a face-paced environment. This position requires management and supervisory skills and the ability to manage a diverse work force. Position requires travel for extended periods of time where project sites are away from home office.

Estimating:


Assists the Business Development team in preparation of responses to RFI’s, RFP’s and RFQ’s.

Lead bid and proposal efforts.

Identify and secure subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.

Develop manpower estimates and associated cost loaded schedules.

Performs quantity take-offs.

Keeps current with latest estimating technology and techniques.

Demonstrates basic conceptual estimating skills by interpolating data.

Develops and documents logical assumptions during conceptual estimating activities and applies these assumptions to takeoff tasks.

Communicates with architects and consultants to clarify scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.

Directs, coordinates, and provides information and documents to subcontractors for bidding.

Assists with final assembly of bid and estimates for presentation to customer.

Prepares contractual exhibits for scope of work for subcontracts, material suppliers, and vendors.

Construction Management:

Leads and enforces safety policies and procedures and addresses non-compliance among all employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.

Leads daily team meetings to promote communication, resolve issues, and share ideas.

Takes ownership of Project Controls throughout project construction.

Carefully analyze cost and schedule problems and initiate alternatives which will cause a course correction.

Lead Customer/Architect/Contractor meetings.

Maintain thorough understanding of the prime contract requirements.

Review and process progress payments from customer and to subcontractors. Suppliers, and vendors.

Manages project invoicing and ensures the team accurately documents and submits all receivables, quantity as-builts, change orders, and claims.

Produces complete subcontracts and ensures all subcontractors provide requested documentation timely and execute to the subcontract agreement.

Estimates, prices, and negotiates customer initiated extra work, change of scope items, and contract deletions to maximize financial returns.

Review, track, and process submittals in a timely manner.

Oversee the pay request process, job cost report and total cost projection reports.

Customer & Industry Interaction:

Assist in the development of customer relationships and manage and retain relationships with new and existing customer.

Follow up on new business opportunity leads and contact potential customers.

Prepare presentations and marketing materials to convey capabilities.

Increase customer base and market presence.

Attend networking and industry events.

Create and maintain a list/database of prospect customer.

Builds relationships with subcontractors to obtain a competitive advantage.

Attends industry events and represents BGI to the industry in a professional capacity.

Ensure BGI is represented at the local level by participation in local chapters and business organizations.

Business Development

Actively develops customer relations to generate opportunities for new work.

Actively leads or participates in business development activities to develop capture plans, teaming strategies, technical approaches, and bid strategies.

· Identify upcoming projects to maintain a pipeline of business opportunities.

Understand BGI projects, sectors, and markets, current and historical.

Identify and track business strengths and customer needs.

Report on successes and areas needing improvements.

Work closely with Leadership on development and implementation of business growth strategies.

Qualifications

To effectively preform the job of Construction Project Manager, the following qualifications and skills are required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related field.

***Mandatory Measurable Federal government experience***

For security clearance requirements – must be a US citizen, as required Advanced knowledge of construction principles/practices required

Must have a valid Driver’s License.

Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Construction and/or Project Manager on buildings, facilities, technology manufacturing, and heavy commercial/industrial projects.

Track record of achievement and career progression.

Experience managing self-performed work tasks.

Demonstrated success managing subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.

Demonstrated success developing costs, pricing change orders, and maximizing profits.

Strong understanding of Federal contracting requirements.

Working Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Primavera P6, and Bluebeam

Solid problem-solving skills.

Exhibits consistent and competent judgement.

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

High attention to detail while working under deadlines and managing multiple priorities.

Must possess the ability to strategically allocate resources and effectively manage assets.

Proven management capabilities having demonstrated the ability to delegate tasks and motivate project teams.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
