SAFETY AND SECURITY DISPATCHER
Department: Safety and Security
Status: Part Time
Work Schedule: To be determined, and will include night, weekends and holidays
Job Summary: The Baldwin Wallace University’s Safety and Security Dispatch Office has a main role in serving the Baldwin Wallace Community. Dispatchers are expected to monitor and operate a variety of communications systems. These include but are not limited to, external and internal telephone calls for service, maintain contact with Safety and Security Officers via two-way radio system, monitor Baldwin Wallace’s intrusion and HVAC alarm systems and other related activities as needed. The Safety and Security Dispatch Office operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
Qualifications and Conditions of Employment: Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Requires strong customer service skills and computer skills. Strong commitment to diversity; must be able to work well with a diverse campus population. Must possess and maintain a valid State of Ohio Driver's license and remain insurable by the University’s carrier. Must successfully complete a criminal and credit background check. Must be willing and able to work a variety of shifts. Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays.
Working Conditions: Work involves sitting for long periods of time in one area.
Compensation: A competitive pay rate, 403 (b) retirement plan, and tuition remission benefits for employee and family.

- Knowledgeable and able to learn computer programs and technical software.
- Answering telephones and operating two-way radio system.
- Dealing with on-station requests for services from the public.
- Obtaining all appropriate information from an individual, in order to properly inform an officer of the situation, parties involved, location, and all other information that is imperative to a given event.
- Assigning calls for service or reports of criminal mischief or activity.
- Monitoring the campus alarm systems.
- Notification to appropriate persons in charge in case of an emergency, whether it be with a student, staff member, or any property owned by the university.
- Able for follow the “Dispatch Basic Duties List” and be familiar with campus locations, including dorms, administrative buildings and other important campus locations.
- Maintaining an accurate and detailed log and any other necessary clerical work.
