Performs a variety of duties relating to material distribution activities and requires CDL-B license.
Receives, routes, and delivers construction material.
Determines appropriate handling methods and devices needed to move items.
Prepares and processes all necessary paperwork and dispatches
Ensures accountability, completes log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportation documents for accurate accounting.
Determines proper identification, marking, labeling, and inclusion of shipping documents and special handling instructions on all shipments.
Assists the Foreman as required in actions such as determining freight shipping requirements consistent with efficiency and transportation priorities.
Analyzes and interprets tech FMCSA regulations.
Maneuvers vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles when positioning vehicles at loading / unloading docks.
Operates vehicles on interstate highways, winding roads, and steep grades and manipulates the dual braking system for safe operation of truck
Ensures cargo is properly loaded, distributed and secured.
Transports items that are bulky and unwieldy utilizing appropriate load balance and adequate protection for items.
Occasionally drives outside over rough surfaces.
Picks up items from job sites, local vendors, and suppliers.
Checks routine maintenance items on assigned vehicles such as oil, tire pressure, windshield washer fluids, power steering fluids, and gas as per required preventive maintenance guidance.
Keeps assigned vehicle in good appearance and assures it is in top-notch condition for periodic vehicle inspections.
Performs other duties as assigned.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving and mechanical parts and equipment.
The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
Employee will be exposed to dust and fumes from cleaners, gasoline, diesel, exhaust….
Employee will work outdoors, and will be exposed to the weather, including extremes in heat and cold, rain…
The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and requires manual dexterity and strength in arms and feet to manipulate equipment controls, tools and other items used to make adjustments and/or minor maintenance.
Will use hands, arms, back and shoulders in handling, installing, positioning, and moving items, and manipulating other objects.
Could be in a standing, bending, kneeling or sitting position for long periods of time.
