We are seeking an ambitious individual to serve as a Project Manager from any Bala location on select Mission Critical projects while developing and assisting in growing a group that is capable of executing large scale Mission Critical projects on a regional and national basis. This person will also support sales and business development efforts by establishing, maintaining and cultivating client relationships.

We will be selecting a candidate who thrives on challenges and constantly pushes the norm. This role requires the ability to develop clients and attract new business, manage internal teams, and execute multiple projects (of long and short duration) concurrently. Suitable candidates need to possess knowledge and experience with industry standards and latest technologies in MEP systems design of mission critical facility infrastructure. The ability to lead projects and teams, communicate and work with clients, owner’s representatives, facility engineers and Bala’s multi-discipline staff and project teams are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Projects
    • Serve as a project manager on select projects in the Mission Critical Sector. Project types include new builds, renovations, fitouts and infrastructure upgrades.
    • Client facing role, RFP site visits and proposal writing is expected. PM duties include: planning, execution and day-to-day management of internal teams and clients.
    • Provide all management functions including scope responsibilities, client management, scheduling, and financials.
    • Vet company processes and provide input.
    • Assist project managers across all locations of the enterprise.
    • Develop a core group of assistant project managers eventually capable of performing independently on similar project types.
    • As a Project Manager based out of the New York office, it is expected that the majority of time will be spent in the local area. Travel to other Bala offices is encouraged on an as-needed basis. National travel to project sites is expected and will occur infrequently on an as-needed basis based on the requirements of the project.
  • Mentor Staff
    • Be a technical resource for the staff.
    • Manage/schedule quality control reviews to reinforce technical lessons and company processes.
    • Complete internal peer reviews and provide input in multi-discipline page turns, across all offices, to assist in the development of a comprehensive design.
    • Manage/schedule page turns prior to all major project deliverables.
    • Provide input utilizing sound engineering principles.
  • Participate in Project Staffing Support
    • Review workforce projections and determine how it relates to staffing.
    • Identify times and strategies to manipulate design schedules to work with staffing.
    • Provide input on individual staff member performance, advancement, and potential.
    • Participate in staff performance reviews when appropriate.
    • Drive ownership, accountability and culture through the company.
    • Interact with partners and executives on a regular basis to further the growth and quality agenda of the firm.
  • Marketing / Business Development Support
    • Identify potential business opportunities.
    • Work with the leadership team to develop fees on complex projects.
    • Develop and maintain client relationships.
    • Grow the volume and footprint of the office market sectors.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in engineering consulting or adjacent field (construction, owner’s representative, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant field
  • PE license preferred
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Knowledge of building codes
  • Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and the latest technologies for mechanical systems design of Mission Critical Facilities
