Job Description

Bakersfield Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative (BKRHC) is currently accepting resumes for a full-time ACCOUNTANT in Bakersfield, California. The Accountant will administer and assist with the maintenance of the financial records and accounts for the organization. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a complex cost accounting system as well as the normal accounting records of the organization; preparing and analyzing a variety of financial and statistical records and reports; and maintaining data in an information system or database. The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills; organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through; strong leadership skills; and the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field and two (2) years proven work experience in general accounting; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience in preparing periodic financial statements and reports.
  • An overall understanding of general and governmental accounting principles and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using advanced office software applications, such as QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Ability to interpret and apply applicable rules, regulations policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of general office organization and file maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and possess a valid CA driver’s license, as driving is required for the position.

Preferred qualifications include multi-lingual ability, ability to work well with a diverse population in an empathetic and caring manner, and prior experience working in a homeless shelter.
