Baja Construction Co., Inc. is looking for a self-motivated, thorough, and organized individual to join its construction department. This role will be accountable for the successful execution of all projects - delivering exceptional customer service and sound financial outcomes.

The Project Manager Assistant is responsible for understanding the project flow from proposal phase through project closure and must be able to communicate relevant project information to the project team and provide support to the Project Manager.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Assist Project Manager in the day to day management of projects (30%)

Coordinate with project manager, superintendent, field crew, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project flow within the projected timeline (25%)

Monitor logs for jobs in progress, engineering, contract documents, change orders, purchase orders, pre-liens and permits as determined necessary for a successful project. (15%)

Interpret and analyze reports; participate in meetings to review construction projects and budgeting. (10%)

Work closely with accounting to ensure accuracy of data on invoices by making comparisons to purchase orders/order confirmation, materials receiving report to verify quantities, prices, payment terms, and freight charges.. (10%)

Review field time sheets for accurate project coding & labor categories. Process and code weekly expense reports. (5%)

Assist in compiling and creating permitting documents, coordinate inspections and site visits if required. (5%)

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to accomplish cycle time improvement for efficiency of projects/budgeting to identify waste that can be eliminated
  • Arrangement of subcontractor, equipment and concrete for ongoing projects
  • Effectively utilize internal and external resources to facilitate customer and vendor relationships

Tools Required

  • Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders/change orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, and all other project related documents.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and take action before they become problems
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize tasks repeatedly throughout the day
  • Show strong personal initiative, effective interpersonal skills, and unwavering commitment to safety
  • Software programs as appropriate to facilitate the work required

Education & Experience Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry related experience

Preferred:

  • Associate Degree and/or Advanced Certification
  • Knowledge and ability to ready and understand construction specifications and drawings
  • Experience with solar, renewable energy projects
  • Proficient in use of company software programs and tools. For example: Sage, Excel, MS Word

Salary: $60,000.00 to $5,000.00 /year
