Nursery Person - Equipment Operator

Bachman’s was founded in 1885 and remains a family-owned business, with fifth-generation Bachman family members leading the company today. Bachman’s operates six full-service Floral, Gift & Garden Centers throughout the Twin Cities, a gift shop in the Galleria, a Hardscapes Center in Farmington, and 28 floral departments within Lunds & Byerlys grocery stores. Additionally, Bachman’s operates indoor and outdoor landscaping divisions, a weddings and special events department, a wholesale nursery division, seven acres of greenhouses, and a 670-acre growing range in Lakeville, Minn., which produces many of the plants, flowers, and landscaping products sold by Bachman’s today.

The Nursery Person position will be apart of a union.

Job Duties:

• • Load and haul soil, rock, and other materials on trucks. Load and unload nursery stock.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Perform routine light maintenance on equipment.
  • Accurately mix and apply pesticides and fertilizers as directed.
  • Perform all nursery person duties as directed.
  • Train other staff as needed.
  • Perform equipment and facilities maintenance and housekeeping duties as directed.
  • Perform other duties as directed. Assist in other areas as needed.
  • Perform receiving duties on Eagle.

Qualifications:

• • High school diploma plus 2-year certificate in horticulture or related field.
  • Two years’ experience in operation of nursery/farm machinery and equipment including tractors, skid loaders, forklift, front-end loader, dump truck, tree space, road grader semi-tractor/trailer, and/or others.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Have or be willing to obtain Pesticide applicator’s license.
  • MNLA certification desirable.
  • Training in CPR and First Aid desirable.
  • Landscape hardgoods knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Eagle System knowledge preferred.

Schedule:

7-3:30p Monday- Friday, some weekends and OT
