Job Description

Our client, a biopharmaceutical company in South San Francisco, is looking for an Interim Financial Accounting Manager to help lead their accounting team. Toward the end of 2019, they received FDA approval for one of their drugs, which has experienced great success since. Because of its success, they are forecasting healthy revenues for the coming fiscal year and are quickly growing their headcount. A strong candidate for this role is someone who has operational experience, can effectively prioritize tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities:

Prepare and/or review journal entries for key areas of responsibility including accruals, ensuring month-end close metrics are delivered in excellence

Analyzes and reviews general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close

Review and prepare Bank reconciliation entries

Prepare and maintain the monthly Fixed asset sub ledgers

General ledger account reconciliation preparation, review and follow-up on open items

Liaise between accounting team members and FP&A regarding the periodic activity under review and provide guidance on proper determination of U.S. GAAP expense recognition, accrual accuracy and disclosures

Support FP&A team for G&A accrual booking 

Maintain system integrations: NetSuite, Zycus, and Concur

Manage the Flo Qast reconciliation tool

Assist with financial statement audit prepare schedules, compile support for audit selections and other audit related activities

Identify and implement process improvements through standardization and automation of processes and control

Prepare and/or update standard operating procedures for assigned areas

Ad hoc finance support projects as needed


Requirements:

BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance

5+ years general ledger accounting experience desired

Experience with NetSuite, Concur, and procurement systems

An aptitude for learning and managing ERP data structures and reporting capabilities

Superior analytical and modeling skills including advanced proficiency in Excel and the ability to quickly manipulate and analyze large data sets and build reports 

Strong work ethic including sound judgement, outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work independently

Able to work with high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment

Results and goal-oriented mindset with an opportunistic eye towards process improvements

Strong ability to prioritize and organize work effectively

Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively 

Ability to build strong relationships with co-workers of various backgrounds and expertise

Ability to function at a high level in a team setting whether leading the group or acting as an individual contributor
