This is a Summer 2023 Position

Job Title:

Wheels Manager

Position Concept:

Develop and oversee the execution of meaningful skateboarding, BMX, and mountain bike programs in the (Onsite - National Scout Camp, SE, FAC, and or Training Programs) as a means to forward the Aims and Methods of Scouting

Principle Responsibilities:

· With the help of assistant(s) train and supervise staff in execution of skateboard programs

· With the help of assistant(s) train and supervise staff in execution of BMX programs

· With the help of assistant(s) train and supervise staff in execution of advancement and open programs in mountain biking

· Direct the set up and takedown of the Action Point skateboarding, BMX, and mountain bike facilities and equipment

· Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and request more as needed in a timely manner

· Oversee the regular maintenance of all tracks, ramps, and trails used for On-Site wheeled sports programs for the Summit Bechtel Reserve.

· With the help of a Mechanic ensure that all equipment is used properly, inventoried, and returned in good repair

· Carry out and enforce the policies and procedures outlined in the Summit Bechtel Reserve Staff Handbook

· Ensure all programs, staff, and facilities are in compliance with National Camp Accreditation Standards, state/federal laws, and any other applicable standards

· Participate in all camp-wide activities

· Any other duties as assigned by full-time staff and/or direct supervisor

Qualifications & Training:

· Be or become a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America

· 18 Years old or older (21+ preferred)

· Have significant experience teaching skateboarding, BMX or mountain biking (multiple disciplines preferred)

· Have experience maintaining bikes or skateboards

· Have experience maintaining skate parks, MTB trails, or BMX tracks

· Good organizational skills

Physical Requirements:

· Must meet the Summit Bechtel Reserve's high adventure height/weight requirements as laid out in the Summit BSA Health & Medical Record

· Must be able to demonstrate proficiency skateboarding and riding a bike
