POSITION CONCEPT:This professional is responsible for maximizing philanthropic support for Scouting in Bay-Lakes Council through the development and execution of high yield fundraising programs (efforts). This includes the strategic analysis of opportunities for return on investment, creation of both short and long-term strategies as well as design of metrics and accountability factors to assure strong stewardship. Both experience with and pursuit of ongoing learning about best practice fund development strategies is expected.The Director of Development is directly responsible for the achievement of annual fundraising goals through council campaigns, special events and United Way relationships and indirectly through Friends of Scouting campaigns, product sale, grant writing and direct mail.Capital and endowment fundraising prospecting in conjunction with team members is also expected by this professional in coordination with the Major Gifts Director, Director of Development and...
related volunteer teams.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions):1. Work through Director of Development and with the Council Vice President for Development to provide maximum volunteer support to all fundraising campaigns and attainment of council goals and to ensure ample volunteer personnel are recruited and available for service.2. Work closely with the Director of Development, Major Gifts Director and Field staff in support of their role related to development.3.
Serve as staff adviser of the following committees: Special Events (Sporting Clays, Golf Outing, Golden Eagle Events, and more), Alumni (NESA/Scouting Alumni), Friends of Scouting4. Primary staff liaison to all United Ways. Develop annual allocation requests and prepare required status reports.5.
Embrace and carry to others the philosophy and mission of Bay-Lakes Council. Optimize the tools available within the Development programs and processes to carry the Scouting message to a wide community audience.6. Work cooperatively as a member of the Development Team to achieve the goals of the council.7.
