ASSESSMENTS

In addition to running them themselves, PS-3s are responsible for training PS-2s on how to conduct assessments. Beyond the up-front training, PS-3s ensure assessment quality by performing QA checks on real assessments of PS-2s and providing them regular feedback on their performance. For both the initial training and auditing, PS-3s won’t be own their own - they’ll use the programs and systems that have already been put in place by BRX.

PS-3 OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

One of the major changes a PS-3 will experience as they transition into their new role is the added responsibility of developing interns, PS-1s, and PS-2s by overseeing digital and in-person training and ongoing quality checks. This will be managed in conjunction with the facility manager (PS-4).

In a nutshell, here are the administrative functions PS-3s will be expected to execute/utilize on a daily basis:

  • Trainual: Managing intern, PS-1, and PS-2 development through digital training programs
  • Continuing Education: Leading staff in-services and new exercise implementation meetings
  • Quality Checks: Ensuring program writing, assessment, and 1-on-1 and semiprivate coaching quality
  • Daily Pre-training Meeting: Leading daily pre-training meeting to ensure smooth training day
  • Exercise.com: Managing client memberships, billing, and non-training athletes, etc
  • Hubspot: Emailing and managing your client list and client data, executing your daily tasks, etc
  • Dropbox: Managing client programs, assessment videos, reassessment videos

MANAGING CLIENT ACCOUNTS

Besides answering the phone call during training hours, nearly all facets of a client’s experience with BRX will be handled by the PS-2 or PS-3 who manages their account. The two most-used software systems for this are Hubspot and Exercise.com.

PROGRAM WRITING

Per the section above, PS-3s likely handle the programs of 30-50 athletes. Moreover, due to experience, PS-3s will often be managing the “higher maintenance” clients - those with injuries, professional athletes, etc.

HOW TO GET TO PS-4

In addition to performing their current role at an extremely high level, PS-3s who get promoted to PS-4 - also referred to as the facility’s General Manager - will be the ones who demonstrate an interest in developing their “business” skills in addition to training skills.

Note the wording choice of “in addition” as opposed to “instead.” The most successful PS-4s will be those who maintain their burning desire to push BRX towards becoming the most advanced athletic development organization in the world.

Furthermore, PS-3s who show an ability to add real, unique business value to BRX (in conjunction with PS-4) are prime candidates to move up in the organization. This could be regular public speaking that increases client numbers, adding new training services and sources of revenue that BRX didn’t offer previously, and more.

Qualitative

  • Demonstrates the ability to consistently execute training and operational responsibilities at a high level
  • Demonstrates a continued passion for personal development in the S&C realm
  • Demonstrates a passion for personal development in the business and leadership realms as much as strength and conditioning
  • Demonstrates an affinity for consistency, discipline, and quality
  • Demonstrates an ability to provide business value to BRX beyond what a typical PS-3 would provide

Quantitative

  • Retains their clients at the specified rate throughout the year
  • Scores at least 4/5 on each performance review category
  • Reaches quarterly performance objectives
  • Score at least 90% on customer satisfaction survey
  • Score at least 90% on intern/PS-1/PS-2 satisfaction survey
