Job Description

Certified Nursing Assistant

BRIA of Forest Edge is seeking an energetic employee to joinour healthcare team. This position offers a chance to meet the medical andemotional needs of our residents in a safe, professional and nurturingenvironment. Schedules Available: all shifts, weekends.

Qualifications:Requires valid deemed nurse aide certification in the State ofIllinois. Requires employee to have had no abuse convictions. Prompt andregular attendance.

Basic Function:To provide assigned residents with routine daily nursing care inaccordance with established nursing care procedures, state and federalguidelines, and as directed by your supervisor. \

Essential Duties:

Assist with lifting,turning, moving, positioning and transporting residents into and out of beds,chairs, bathtubs, wheelchairs, lifts, etc.

Assist residents withdressing and ensure that dependent residents are dressed in clean clothingappropriate for season and in good repair.

Give or assist residentwith bathing.

Assist residents withdaily dental and mouth care.

Keep incontinentresidents clean, dry and odor free; check every two hours to maintain.

Assist residents withbowel and bladder functions.

Position residentsmaintaining good body alignment.

Keep residents dry,changing clothes and gowns when wet or soiled.

Make beds and change bedlinens when soiled.

Shave male patientsdaily and female residents as needed.

Keep residents fingerand toenails clean and trimmed.

Perform restorative andrehabilitative procedures as instructed.

Assist resident withhair combing and brushing, shampooing and styling.

Assist residents inpreparing for activity and social programs and transport, accompany andparticipate when assigned.

Maintain recordsaccurately and timely.

Chart timely andaccurately in Point of Care (if applicable).

Measure and record T, P,R, and weights as instructed.

Observe and report thepresence of skin breakdown or redness to the nurse.

Observe and report anyphysical or emotional changes observed in the residents including anycomplaints or grievances made by the resident.

Prepare resident formeals, assist serving food trays or feed as necessary and record/or reportresidents intake or acceptance of food.

Serve between meal andbedtime snacks or nourishment.

Attend all mandatoryin-services and maintain 12 hours of training each year.

Keep nurse call systemwithin easy reach and answer call lights within 10 minutes.

Report all hazardousconditions and equipment to the nurse immediately.

Follow establishedsafety precautions in performance of all duties.

Wash hands before andafter performing any service for the resident and follow infection controlguidelines and universal precautions.

Keep wheel chairs,tables, geri-chairs, commodes and other resident equipment clean.

Follow establishedisolation precautions and procedures.

Review care plans dailyto ensure provision of appropriate care.

Maintain confidentialityof all resident call information and ensure resident privacy.

Treat all residents,families and visitors with kindness, dignity and respect.

Perform all assignedtasks in accordance with policy and procedure and instruction of yoursupervisor.

Create and maintain anatmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive regard as well as a calmenvironment throughout the unit and shift.

Adhere to all facilityand department policies and procedures.

Appropriate applicationand response to personal/door alarms.

CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant Knowledge, Skills, andAbilities:

Ability to read, write,and spell and to understand and follow both written and oral directions.

Ability to communicateand work well with residents and staff members.

Ability to speak the Englishlanguage in an understandable manner.

Ability to relate to andwork with the ill, disabled, elderly, mentally ill, emotionally upset and attimes hostile and violent residents within the facility.

Ability to remaincurrent in practice as applicable to job.
