Maintenance Technician
BJ CAAS Advisors is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician in agricultural equipment to join our Maintenance team in Charleston SC. This individual will be responsible for repairing and servicing a wide variety of portable and permanent agriculture machinery. The main areas of focus include meeting service requirements, preventative maintenance, station set up, health & safety and quality control. Duties include scheduling daily work to be performed and ensuring work orders are executed in a safe, efficient manner, while maintaining high quality craftsmanship.
At a minimum, tasks will include, but not limited to:
- · Develop safety culture including the use of job hazard analysis and walkdowns.
- · Lead the execution of mechanical maintenance and repairs for the site.
- · Implement and execute preventive maintenance programs.
- · Develop, review and update written maintenance instructions and schedules.
- · Drive precision maintenance, quality work and improved reliability.
- · Ensure OSHA 1910 compliance.
- · All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- · Provide fixed equipment, (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.) conveyor and piping technical support for multiple sites within the plant.
- · Perform root cause analysis, using various methods to reduce probability associated w/ fixed equipment failures.
- · Manage site relief device maintenance program.
- · Identify critical spare parts.
- · Follow company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
- · Repair and service a wide variety of portable agriculture machinery such as augers, conveyors, post pounders, grain vacuums, and seed treaters
- · In the field repairs on permanent commercial and non-commercial grain and fertilizer handling job sites
- · Work order creation and repair documentation
- · Parts knowledge, interpretation of parts catalogues and parts ordering for repairs
- · Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve repair or assembly problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- · High school diploma or equivalent.
- · Technical secondary education preferred.
Experience and Skills
- · 10+ years’ industrial maintenance experience including both rotating and fixed equipment. Chemical or refining industry Fertilizer manufacturing experience is a plus.
- · 5+ years’ experience in electrical and mechanical systems.
- · Experience with welding procedures and certifications.
- · Extensive knowledge of engineering standards – ASME and API.
- · Be computer literate.
- · Ability to read & interpret P&IDs.
- · Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, PowerPoint).
- · Strong adherence and knowledge of industry safety standards. Active participation in ongoing development of safety improvement plans and training of staff.
- · Proven ability to function within a project team, prioritizing/delegating work, driving productivity, setting the right expectation, and proactively overcoming obstacles in a complex project.
- · Proven track record of implementing improvements and meaningful KPI’s.
- · Excellent time management skills. Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize work to meet targets and deadlines.
- · Enthusiastic, customer focused professional with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- · Able to quickly handle a high volume of projects that require safe work habits at all times.
- · Able to thrive in a high-stress and fast-paced environment.
- · Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements
- · Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
- · Wearing a respirator when/where required to perform inspections/job duties.
- · Wearing hearing protection within high level noise areas as required.
- · Industrial chemical plant environment PPE required.
