Job Description

Genomic Data Analyst for Reverse Translation Signaling Projects

Where: South San Francisco CA.

W2 contract: 5 months with extension or permanency possibilities.

 

DESCRIPTION:
We seek a self-motivated, independent, and creative scientist to support computational research for our Reverse Translation - Oncology Bioinformatics team. We have a team of
skilled bioinformatics researchers working in a highly collaborative environment with multiple
internal and external teams. The work will be focused on implementing established and
novel methods for analyzing biological data, including but not limited to single-cell RNA,
single-nuclei RNA, Whole exome sequencing (WES), and ATAC seq sequencing data primarily of solid tumors.

Duties
1) Perform comprehensive analysis of various single cell and NGS datasets such as RNA-seq, WES, ChIP-seq/ATAC-seq to generate biological insights.
2) Develop and interact with computational pipelines at Genentech for end-to-end analysis of new high throughput assays.
3) Complement existing code to generate specific plots and subsequent analysis from existing project data and bioinformatics scientist analysis.

Skills
1. Strong computational and analytical skills, including high level of proficiency with R programming language and Bioconductor packages including Multi-Assay Experiment, Ragged Experiment, Summarized Experiment and Seurat libraries.
2. Experience with analysis of high throughput data such as single cell and bulk RNAseq and ATAC-seq and WES.
3. Familiarity with public genomic databases such as TCGA, GEO, DEPMAP, dpGAP.
4. Experience with working in Linux-based servers.
5. Good data science practice and understanding of data complexity.
6. Good communication skills and interest in exploring the cancer biology.
7. A recent PhD graduate in bioinformatics, genomics or computational biology or masters degree with 3+ years of experience
A plus, but not essential
1. Experience in analyzing CRISPR screens.
2. Experience with applying various machine learning models to high throughput datasets.
