Job Description


  • The Branch Manager position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the branch and ensuring the customs activities carried out are compliant with all applicable government and company regulations and practices
  • This position is also responsible for building and maintaining client relationships
  • Ensure overall operational success of the branch
  • Day to day management of the branch ensuring adherence to company policy, procedures, goals and government regulations
  • Monitor operational billing
  • Audit entries for governmental, company and customer compliance
  • Seek out efficiencies and control costs
  • Oversee staff on a day-to-day basis, including:
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on procedures and complex problems
  • Work with staff to regulate workflow and ensure service levels are maintained and transactions are completed timely
  • Help to develop staff career goals and provide ongoing training and education
  • Motivate staff to improve work efficiencies
  • Schedule regular meetings, evaluate performance, monitor development plans, manage salaries, schedule/approve/manage attendance, etc
  • Stay up to date on current and pending trade policies
  • Advise staff and clients of relevant changes
  • Work closely with branch staff, clients, vendors and agents on new compliance or regulatory issues
  • Build and delegate SOP creation, and ensure their compliance
  • Work to on board new clients, generate procedures and follow-up with communications
  • Research and provide trade assistance to internal and external clients
  • Support Transportation Department with new hires, training, flow process and operationally as needed
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned or as necessary


  • A valid U.S. Customs Brokerage License
  • 7 or more years of customs brokerage experience
  • Minimum 2 years of management or supervisory experience within a brokerage and/or international freight forwarding operation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various government legislation surrounding the importation of goods
  • Must have secondary school education or equivalent
  • Must have superior administrative and managerial skills
  • Must be able to set, implement and manage strategic plans
  • Must have demonstrated strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Must have superior communication and interpersonal skills in order to deal effectively with clients and staff
  • Must have excellent judgment skills
  • Must have demonstrated organizational, multi-tasking and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and related software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Ability to write, read, analyze and interpret reports
  • Working Conditions, Mental Effort & Physical Requirements
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with no supervision
  • High level of accuracy is required when checking information, adding figures and reconciling documents
  • Concentration is required in balancing several tasks at one time
  • Must contend with sensitive, frustrating and confidential situations, time pressures and frequent interruptions that can lead to a high level of stress
  • Must be able to resolve personnel and workflow issues in an appropriate and timely fashion
  • May be required to sit at desk for prolonged periods of time
  • Concentration, alertness and attention is required while driving in a variety of road conditions and locations and for obeyance of driving rules when traveling
  • Management: 2 years (Required)
  • U.S Customs Brokerage License (Required)
