We're currently looking for an excited and talented IT Manager-Americas to help us push our organization forward by helping us in the following areas:

  • Based on input provided by BCSNA’s Business Plan develop, promote, and implement an IT Plan for all of BCSNA.  This Plan is not to be limited to only the IT department, but to take into consideration the needs of all users of IT technology within the business unit.
  • Development, management, and motivation of an IT staff capable of carrying out the IT Plan for all of BCSNA.
  • Acting in the capacity of a facilitator and champion of change to pro-actively promote new electronic technologies that can be of cost or competitive advantage to BCSNA.
  • Acting as a coordinator of change regarding IT systems and technologies to ensure a controlled and effective approach to IT automation.
  • Development of existing systems to fullest potential, including recommending, assisting, encouraging, and directing users in the best use of their software/hardware tools.
  • Recommending and coordinating user education as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Proper control and documentation of the IT program and operating functions to ensure system security, integrity and uptime per agreed business SLAs.

General direction necessary to carry out these duties will be provided by the Chief Information Officer and Vice President/General Manager-Americas.

Incumbents must have a degree in computer science, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of computer/systems experience, some of which was obtained in a manufacturing environment.  Must have previous supervisory/management experience with the ability to diagnose problems and recommend corrective actions.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and maintain a timely IS Plan.
  • Develop and maintain a Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Ensure system, data, and software are integrity.
  • Review all requests for system change to ensure they met overall IT/BCS criteria.
  • Monitor open project schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Review all proposed changes to procedures to ensure system integrity.
  • Identify IT training needs for BCSNA employees and to the degree appropriate, establish relevant training programs.
  • Identify and recommend new technology opportunities in the IT area that would offer BCSNA a cost or competitive advantage.
  • Investigate, review, and recommend hardware and software changes that would be of benefit to BCSNA.
  • Communicate with the IT BCS Corporate Group to maintain knowledge levels of corporate requirements.
  • Monitor equipment and software utilization to be able to recommend configuration changes.
  • Prepare budgets for the IT function.
  • Participate in software evaluation studies.
  • Manage all personnel functions of IT.
  • Deals with vendors and consultants in the best interest of BCSNA.
  • Maintains a network with others in IST to encourage a sharing of knowledge.
  • Responsible for launch readiness and support of all GDPIM activities. Provide the necessary support to the GDPIM group in the Product Launch activities.

PRINCIPLE WORKING RELATIONS:
  • Works with all levels of BCS personnel to ensure:
    • users are availed of current and proposed system abilities
    • IT is aware of system desires of users,
    • Management is aware of IT issues, and
    • IT is aware of management issues that may affect them.
  • Serves at times as an advisor to other management on issues regarding IT.
  • Serves at other times as a key decision-maker when dealing with issues of IT.
  • Facilitates completion of IT priorities through the IT staff.

The history of BCS Automotive Interface Solutions goes back until 1949 when Werner Messmer founded Messmer Radolfzell, today’s facility in Radolfzell, Germany. In the 1970s, the US American automotive supplier TRW acquired first Werner Messmer and shortly after that SIPEA in Italy.

Lucas Industries, a British manufacturer of automotive and aerospace components acquired Kelsey-Hayes in the US in 1994. That entire business was assumed by TRW in 1999.

Until 2012, BCS Automotive Interface Solutions consisted of two regional business units, Body Control Systems North America and Body Control Systems Europe & Emerging Markets. In that year it became a global business.

With that, starting to focus on company culture, our vision ‘Be the global leader in automotive interface solutions’ was established and will continue to be our long-term goal.

In 2015, the German automotive supplier ZF Friedrichshafen acquired TRW. During that time from then to now, the BCS business has started to put high attention to the changing automotive market and to invest into new technologies.

Since end of April 2018, BCS Automotive Interface Solutions is a standalone company. BCS stands for Body Control Systems which has been the name of the business during the time when it belonged to bigger corporations.

BCS Automotive Interface Solutions is an automotive supplier specialized in solutions for the vehicle interior to ensure a safe and comfortable control of the car by the driver. It has about 3,600 employees and is operating locations and engineering centers in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific. Being present in 10 countries with 8 manufacturing facilities and 13 Sales and Engineering locations, BCS Automotive Interface Solutions has a footprint in all automotive relevant regions and support its customers globally. In 2020 it generated a revenue of about 700 million US dollar.
