General Summary

The Loan Assistant's primary goal is to competently and credibly support the Sales Officers by creating seamless processes that will lead to a positive and engaging experience for customers. The Loan Assistant will take a lead role in creating an outstanding customer experience by resolving customer service issues, processing loan applications, opening deposit accounts, offering convenience services, and helping the Sales Office meet sales and service objectives contributing to the bank's Strategic Plan. The Loan Assistant will provide exceptional service in face-to-face interactions with customers. The Loan Assistant will partner with the sales office team and specialists (such as Sales Managers, Treasury Solutions, Independent Investments, Mortgage, etc.), to ensure the customer gets access to experts who can help them with specialized financial needs.

Essential Functions

This position requires flexible hours.

Supporting Sales Officers

  • Competently and credibly communicates Bank Independent's capabilities to customers once opportunities are identified.
  • Supports Sales Officers by effectively and completely accepting and processing new loan applications, and renewals, through the banks loan management systems; verifies and examines information and accuracy of loan applications and closing documents
  • Ensures loan is advancing forward though stages on time; collaborates with Sales Officer, Credit Admin, and Loan Processing/Operations on any obstacles delaying loan from advancing
  • Schedules and conducts loan closings
  • Completes loan booking process, including closing documentation follow-up
  • Answers questions and advises customers regarding loans and transactions
  • Request Change in Terms
  • Supports Sales Officers by managing maturing loan list
  • Collects and uploads financials
  • Resolves technical exceptions
  • Answers customer inquiries, resolves issues, and performs maintenance
  • Supports Sales Officer(s) with the construction loan process by creating spreadsheets, processing draws, scheduling inspections (if necessary)
  • Partners with Sales Officers to achieve and exceed sales and service; and, deposit and loan growth attainments
  • In addition to loan support, the Loan Assistant will service the deposit account needs of customers.


Relationship Development

  • Identify and meet customer needs through sales and service
  • Actively listens for opportunities to cross-sell additional products and services
  • Demonstrates Raving Fans behaviors and use of the Winning Play while creating an exceptional customer experience to new and existing customers
  • Supports the sales office by attending branch meetings and participating in branch activities
  • Achieves or exceeds Sales and Service goals
  • Resolves customer complaints regarding sales and service


Compliance
  • Ensures all regulatory requirements, bank policies and procedures are followed while servicing new and existing customer accounts
  • Resolves deposit, loans, and safe deposit box exceptions in a timely manner
  • Adheres to all security requirements
  • Completes all required training assignments in a timely manner


Working Conditions
  • Generally good with little exposure to noise, extreme temperatures, dust, or other adverse factors.
  • Considerable effort and eyestrain from continuously verifying accuracy of all work leaving the department.


Minimum Level of Preparation and Training
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years previous experience with direct customer service interaction required
  • Previous experience servicing new accounts preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with servicing loans required


Required Abilities, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Ability to further develop consumer and commercial relationships and cross-sell additional products and services to match customer's needs and wants
  • Ability to develop knowledge of the bank's products, services, and processes
  • Ability to develop a good understanding of financial statements and credit assessment
  • Ability to accomplish multiple objectives in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding of bank specific software and other basic office equipment
  • Excellent communication, team-work, and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational, decision making, time management, and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, such as, Work, Excel, and Outlook
