Inside Machinist Foreperson

Job Description Foreperson will be responsible for multi-ship and large scope assignments, plan manpower and order material to successfully support schedule milestone requirements. Assign work, control labor and materials within budgets to meet schedules. Ensure that production work is complete on schedule and within budget. Oversea supervision assigned to projects and monitors schedule performance. Objectively evaluate all personal directly working for them in accordance with company policy. Manage and develop department employees; including motivation , leading, training, supplying disciplinary action as needed. Ensure skill level of personal meets job requirements and promotions are conducted in a timely manner based upon the craft's promotional criteria. Accomplish written and physical turnover and estimate work as required. Provided technical direction for Navy and commercial vessel repair requirements. Monitor quality and quantity of work performed and conduct visual inspections on completed work as needed. Ensure that inter-department relations are maintained in a cooperative manner. Review time sheets are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Ensure safety and environmental requirements are meet.Typical Education & Experience .Required Skills and Education
  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in a shipyard environment or major manufacturing
  • Must be a minimum of Journeyman Level IV
  • Must be enrolled in Leadership training OR have previous Foreperson experience OR currently hold a Foreperson position
  • Experience with Job Scheduling, Budget Planning and Estimating
  • Review and approval of timecards ( paper or in electronic time keeping system)
  • Create JAT’s and input data in electronic system
  • Distribute crew assignment
  • Capable of giving clear work instructions to employees
  • Knowledge and understanding of trade working documents required.
  • Must meet attendance policy requirements regarding promotions
  • Must meet safety policy requirements regarding promotions
  • Must be able to read blueprints and convey the information to employees and other craft departments
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS pass, if required.
  • Candidates may be required to travel to different BAE sites or Naval Bases
  • Ability to read and understand work specifications – NAVSEA standard items
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Intermediate to Advanced Computer Skills
Preferred Skills and Education -In-depth knowledge of machinery and tooling

-Knowledge of in-place machining onboard ship or field environment

-Conceptual understand of set-ups for multiple types of equipment (pumps, valves, seals, etc.)
