What do we do?

Azure Summit Technology provides a wide range of multi-channel software defined radio products, innovative signal processing solutions and end-to-end mission payloads and systems for the full range of advanced RF applications including EW, radar, communications and multi-mode RF operations.  Systems can be tailored to meet a variety of requirements for bandwidth, dynamic range, number of channels, and computational resources. Supported platforms range from resource-constrained small UAVs and wearable devices to manned aircraft and maritime vessels.

What will you do?

Azure Summit Technology is currently seeking an experience Windows System Administrator who can also perform Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) tasking. The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic, growing, cross-functional, and geographically distributed team.  This position is located at our Melbourne, FL, facility.  Your future team has worked together to produce the following job description:

The selected candidate will report to the corporate Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM) and will be responsible for day-to-day IT support for the corporate network, collaborating with the Managed Services Provider (MSP), building and managing restricted access information systems, and assisting in maintaining the information security posture for the company at our Fairfax, VA, headquarters location. This position will be a key and valued member of our security team. 

The System Administrator will build and maintain Windows and Linux servers and workstations, implement and configure Virtual Machines (VM), manage user accounts, assist in designing and implementing new technologies, upgrades, and improvements, and oversee management of network switches, firewalls, and security devices and services.

ISSO tasks will include duties as defined within Department of Defense (DoD) Risk Management Framework (RMF) directives, Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 503, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), and the DSS Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), such as implementing NIST 800-53 security controls and validating security controls using STIGs, SCAP Compliance Checker, and ACAS Nessus.

System Administration and ISSO Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Designing and architecting new small-scale networks to support classified contracts
  • Building and locking down Windows and Linux servers/workstations for classified networks
  • Maintaining VMs and assisting users in configuring VMs to support engineering efforts
  • Interacting with the contracted Managed Services Provider (MSP), a.k.a. IT service provider, to track and manage helpdesk tickets and IT projects
  • Performing weekly patching and implementing security updates
  • Conducting weekly auditing of the information systems, certification and accreditation activities, and coordination and supporting secure systems operations and maintenance 
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of government-approved information security procedures and plans for the operation of networked and standalone classified computers and coordinated government agency approvals 
  • Helping to conduct self-inspections and maintaining compliance with the RMF, NISPOM, DAAPM, corporate directives, pertinent DoD Information Assurance IA/Cyber instructions and other government contractual security requirements 
  • Aiding in defining and communicating the security posture and culture of the organization

Basic Requirements

  • US citizenship, due to the nature of the work and contract requirement 
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance, due to contract requirements
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as System Administrator supporting Windows and Linux environments
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience configuring and maintaining ESXi and Hyper-V servers
  • Minimum 1 year experience managing and maintaining Cisco switches and SonicWall firewalls
  • Microsoft Office 365 certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active SECRET clearance
  • Experience implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) in corporate environments
  • Experiencing implementing and managing data storage solutions
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting
  • CISSP, CISM, Security+, or equivalent certification
  • ISSO Required Training as outlined in the DSS Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM): CS102.16, CS103.16, CS104.16, CS105.16, CS106.16, CS107.16, CS200.16
  • Experience as an ISSO for classified networks/systems with knowledge of supporting information assurance activities, including risk management framework and assessment and authorization (formerly certification and accreditation)
  • Experience with the application and testing of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) on Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience preparing System Security Plans and POA&Ms
