Position Summary

Azimuth is a trusted partner providing innovative solutions and high-level expertise with an agile mindset. We are looking for qualified candidates to design and execute a wide array of data-driven projects in an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) environment.  Projects will be varied but will generally rely on the exploitation of large data sets, analyzed and distilled to enable new functionality to enhance customer capabilities and missions.

This opportunity will be centered on the conceptualization, development, and application of advanced AI/ML solutions to customer capabilities, ranging from image/video (ISR/FMV) to natural language processing and business system operations. The ideal candidate generates and execute ideas of their own design as well as be responsive to customer and corporate direction for projects. The person will work independently and with small teams, serving as both a project lead/subject matter expert as well as providing functional data support.

Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will implement fundamental data analysis principles and sound logic, in a computational lab to foster discovery and definition of novel informational routines and predictive concepts that enhance capabilities. This will entail:

  • Utilizing and augmenting open source computational code, and/or designing (programming) novel computer code 
  • Applying robust mathematical concepts to data within a computer program structure
  • Working with either limited or extensive data sets to analyze or model (predict) capability or process parameters
  • Developing powerful models and simulations, driving magnitudes of order reduction in time required to achieve results.
  • Designing and implementing virtual verification and validation of novel models created
  • Collaborating with internal and external teammates, customers, and partners to create objectives and work plans, review designs, support experimentation, and/or transition technical designs
  • Leads and supports concept development, including participating in technical work proposals
  • Attending/presenting at conferences (posters or briefings)
  • Working with limited data sets to model material/structure/device/process parameters 
  • Working design concepts through reverse engineering practice
  • Working with unlimited data sets to cull design of material/structure/devices
  • Designing and implementing virtual verification and validation of novel models created
  • Collaborating with internal and external teammates, customers, and partners to create objectives and work plans, review designs, support experimentation, and/or transition technical designs
  • Leads or supports concept development, including participating in technical work proposals
  • Attending/presenting at technical conferences (posters or briefings)
  • Writing peer-reviewed technical articles for publication

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years' experience; or Master's degree and 4 years' experience; or PhD; in fields including mathematics, statistics, information science, computer engineering, physics, or similar.
  • Programming in multiple languages (C++, Python, Fortran, TensorFlow, Julia, etc.) 
  • 5 years' experience in variable type of data analytics 
  • note: Advanced experience in AI/ML programming is not required, training will be available
  • Preferred, some combination of the following: support of government or DoD programs/operations
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Flexible, creative, and dynamic thinking
  • Ability to work on multiple projects
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Clearance Required: Applicants selected will be subject to a security clearance check and/or a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Physical Requirements / Travel   

  • Normal office environment 
  • Travel 0-10% typical, for project/customer meetings at various CONUS locations, and potentially technology conferences
