Job Summary

The Inventory Specialist will lead the existing post-harvest team and inventory assistant. The team members will work together to ensure that all cannabis, from seed to finished product, is tagged, logged, tracked, and recorded in METRC in accordance with standards and regulations governing the legal Michigan cannabis industry. The Inventory Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliant METRC operations at all Better Provisioning licensed facilities; team members are required to identify needs, delegate internally, and take initiative as needed to maintain METRC compliance.


Core Responsibilities

o Develop and implement company-wide cannabis inventory tracking and Metrc processes via collaboration with department heads: cultivation, post-harvest, and processing.

o Draft, edit, and implement SOPs for Metrc operations, Post-Harvest, and consumable inventory.

o Procure and implement hardware and software solutions for increasing efficiency and meeting compliance requirements.

o Send, receive, and reject transfers and inventory, including clones and samples for R&D and testing

o Manage plants and packages for all licenses and license types, including regular audits.

o Ensure use of correct CSV files and timely and accurate data reporting.


Basic Qualifications

o Extensive experience using METRC in Michigan is preferred.

o Company willing to assist in becoming METRC certified.

o Experience implementing new technology, hardware and/or software.

o Experience conducting inventory auditing and reconciliation, especially in a cultivation, processing, and/or manufacturing setting.

o Knowledge of Michigan cannabis industry regulations and compliance requirements

o Ability to create structure and operate semi-independently from management.

o High level of accuracy and attention to detail

o High level of organization

o Ability to consistently maintain standards, accuracy, safety, and communication while working in a fast-paced environment.

o Excellent time management and organizational skills

o Excellent interpersonal skills

o Excellent verbal and written communication skills

o Must be at least 21 years of age to work in an AU licensed cannabis facility.

o Ability and experience in training staff on new technology/systems.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for training, managing, scheduling, assigning, and reviewing the Post-Harvest techs and the Inventory Assistant. The Post-Harvest Lead works with the Inventory Specialist to cover these duties for all licenses and license types at Better Provisioning, and to provide cross-training to other departments where needed. The Inventory Specialist may be required to provide problem-solving assistance to staff as needed.


Working Environment

This job operates in a professional, clean, manufacturing environment, including a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers, as well as specialized equipment such as scales, RFID readers, and label printers. Employees will be required to gown into uniforms before entering the cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution facilities. Temperatures and conditions in the cultivation area will be similar to most greenhouses: around 80 degrees F and 65% Humidity. Employees will be exposed to fresh cannabis plants and cannabis plant material. They will also be subject to loud noise from fans, pumps, and motors.

o Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and stay active for long periods of time.

o Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

o Must be able to reach with hands and arms.

o Must be able to stoop, squat, kneel, bend, crawl, and push/pull/lift 50 pounds.

o Must be able to perform repetitive tasks with hands.

o Must be able to perform at a rate consistent with production standards.

o Must be able to communicate/teach basic operational and safety instructions.

o Must be able to do all the above while working in hot, cold, dry, or humid conditions.
