Job Description

Axios Professional Recruitment is partnered with a human services non-profit in Muskegon who is actively looking to hire qualified individuals for a temporary MIHAF Housing Specialist.

The Michigan Homeowners Assistance Fund (MIHAF) is a new statewide program administered through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) aimed at helping Michigan homeowners who have fallen behind in mortgage payments and other housing costs due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The MIHAF Housing Specialist will provide telephone-based assistance to residents who have general questions or need assistance filling out the online application. Additionally, this position will actively work to identify, reduce or eliminate barriers, assists calls with access issues, and ensures that accurate information is collected and available to all interested parties.

 

MIHAF Housing Specialist Benefits:

·         $15/hour

·         Full-Time: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm

·         30-minute lunch break

·         Immediate Start

·         3 to 9-month assignment

 

MIHAF Housing Specialist Responsibilities:

·         Assist clients by answering general questions and support for the MIHAF self-service application portal.

·         Complete MIHAF applications with clients via telephone who need additional support for various reasons, e.g., no internet access, language, or other accessibility barriers.

·         Check the status of submitted MIHAF applications by request.

·         Research answers to new questions and requests for unknown services.

·         Record required data elements accurately and in alignment with training provide by CALL 2-1-1.

·         Become proficient in using software related to position (training provided prior to use).

·         Ensure that all calls and emails are answered or returned within the required timeframe (80% of calls answered within 60 seconds).

·         Participate in quality assurance reviews and monitoring processes, as required.

·         All other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

·         Complies with all Community Access Line of the Lakeshore policies and procedures.

·         Attends and participates in meetings and trainings as requested.

·         Protects the agency through maintaining confidential records and information.

·         Represents Community Access Line of the Lakeshore in a positive and professional manner

 

 

MIHAF Housing Specialist Qualifications:

·         Ability to actively listen and respond to people in need.

·         Ability to interact effectively with persons experiencing a problem situation, effectively assessing and helping problem-solve the situation.

·         Ability to use critical thinking and analysis skills to resolve situations in a timely manner.

·         Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in written format.

·         Work effectively with people of diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds and persons with disabilities and mental illness in a respectful and positive manner.

·         Demonstrate excellent customer service skills to all stakeholders.

·         Demonstrate excellent time management skills in a setting with potential frequent interruptions; ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and perform tasks in an organized and timely matter, with attention to detail.

·         Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, staff, providers and community partners.

·         Be professional in appearance and demeanor, telephone and interpersonal communications.

·         Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel) and Internet navigation.

·         Experience using office equipment: cloud-based desktop telephone, copier, scanner, printer, computer, and calculator.

·         Ability to work as a member of a team and ability to work independently, as needed.

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality required.

·         Ability to work 40 hours per week between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm weekdays. Upon an emergency or scheduling crisis, must be able to work additional hours.

·         Contact center experience helpful, but not required.

Education: An Associates’ degree in related field, preferred.

Must be able to view records, documents and environmental conditions and external factors. Work is performed in an office environment and with usual office equipment including computers, copiers, and printers. The noise level in the work environment is low. The employee must be able to travel in all kinds of weather and have reliable transportation. May involve travel to other locations/agencies as needed. May require evening or weekend hours.
