Job Description


The Sr. Citrix System Engineer is responsible for installation/configuration, operation and support of Citrix systems hardware and software related infrastructure. Tasks will be focused on design, implementation, maintaining high availability, performance, and security of Windows based Virtual Apps and Desktop and NetScaler systems that are provided from our Hosting Services business. The engineer may also work as a lead engineer when migrating, onboarding new clients, or acting as a point of escalation for clients leveraging Citrix environments. As part of the position, the engineer will record information relayed from the customer and the troubleshooting steps performed along with their corresponding results accurately in the case management system. The engineer will manage their personal queue of open tickets and continually follow up to ensure timely incident resolution and customer satisfaction. He or she will proactively identify and take steps to resolve or eliminate recurring incident types and participate in process improvement and knowledge documentation activity to positively impact customer satisfaction and increase operating effectiveness and efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Deployment and management of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, StoreFront, Delivery
  • Controller, FAS, NetScaler, and associated environments
  • Upgrade, patch, and migrate Citrix components as required
  • Citrix Workspace endpoint troubleshooting and management
  • Application presentation and upgrades as they relate to Citrix environments
  • Manage and maintain Microsoft based servers, Active Directory, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, and
  • related enterprise management systems
  • Case support - provide client support, perform problem root cause analysis, and
  • recommend and/or apply resolution steps for cases. Cases can be escalated via telephone,
  • email, and other electronic communication for issues relating to our hosting services
  • platforms
  • Continually monitor the health of the companys systems infrastructure, respond quickly to
  • problems, and proactively troubleshoot irregularities before they become service-impacting
  • issues (including performance tuning)
  • Basic administrative management of Web services such as IIS and Apache
  • Basic administrative support of databases such as Microsoft SQL and MySQL
  • Gather requirements, design, and deploy server-based solutions to meet business needs.
  • Work with a variety of proprietary applications for implementation and perform upgrades

  • Develop internal documentation and procedures related to the systems infrastructure
  • Provide guidance and instruction to other support technical resources to aid in basic
  • administration and triaging of server environments
  • Participate in after-hours (247) support on-call rotation, which will include calls on various
  • technology platforms (including, but not limited to, Microsoft OS and basic network
  • support)
  • Participate in duties as assigned such as application support, patch management, client
  • support activities, etc.
  • Occasional update and management of scripts such as PowerShell and Windows batch

  • Regulatory audit (PCI, HIPAA, etc.) remediation

  • Monitor server performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work within an on-call rotation as well as nights and weekends
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with keen attention to details
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Required Technical Experience/Skills
  • Citrix CCA-V or CCP-V certification highly desirable
  • Extensive Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, NetScaler, StoreFront,
  • Delivery Controller, and FAS.
  • Experience with installation and configuration of FSLogix
  • Strong working knowledge of general networking concepts
  • Experienced with Windows Server 2012 R2, 2016, and 2019.
  • Working knowledge of basic database administration functions
  • General troubleshooting capabilities across the OSI model
