TITLE:                                     Assistant Operations Manager - Landside

REPORTS TO:                        Landside Operations Manager / Assistant Airport Manager

LOCATION:                         Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport 

  

JOB SUMMARY

 The preferred Landside Assistant Operations Manager candidate demonstrates excellence in leadership, customer service, and community relations.  Daily responsibilities focus on maintaining the safe and secure passenger terminal and associated facilities, while supplementing the airside operations department upon completing necessary training qualifications.  May assist in various aspects of the airport’s training programs. Provides unparalleled customer service experience for all airport users. May require occasional evening and weekend shiftwork.   Requires 24/7 availability during winter months for snow removal operations.  Occasional shift work may be required to cover staffing vacancies and vacations. 

 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Landside Manager in overseeing the day-to-day landside activities including but not limited to: maintenance, operations, and security of the passenger terminals, roadways and walkways, parking facilities.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and assign work of landside staff. Train and evaluate personnel as required. 
  • Identify and anticipate operational, safety and security concerns by inspecting airport facilities, generating work orders, ensuring full resolution to all identified discrepancies.    
  • Assist with oversight of relevant construction projects, ongoing maintenance programs, and special airport events.
  • Responsible to ensure all landside facilities are clean, orderly, and well maintained. 
  • Assist in management landside vehicle and equipment fleet.
  • Serves as the airport representative for all terminal / landside emergencies.  Responds to airport emergencies, as necessary.
  • Coordinate removal of all snow and ice from roadways, walkways and parking lots.  Assists airside operations and maintenance crews with snow removal on terminal ramp areas.    
  • Serve as the administrator of the Airport’s property and asset management program.  
  • Serve as airport liaison for landside operational matters with airport tenants, service providers, and stakeholders, including TSA, and Federal, State, and Local law enforcement.
  • Upon successful completion required training, perform job functions associated with airside operations duties as required within the Airport Certification Manual (ACM) and Airport Security Plan (ASP).
  • Assists with coordinating emergency training exercises.   
  • Assists in the development of annual operating budget.
  • Attend weekly meetings with airport management and required training.
  • Provides weekly reports regarding operations, maintenance, and security activities.
  • Assist management with routine maintenance and coordination airport systems, including communications equipment, security / access control systems, paging systems, phone and computer systems, utility services, etc.  
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

•     Bachelor’s or associates degree preferred.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to interface effectively with airport stakeholders and public in a professional manner. 

•      Previous experience in project management, construction, facility maintenance, asset management and other general operational functions highly preferred.

  • Previous experience and/or capability of becoming fully qualified to perform job functions associated regulatory compliance with FAR Part 139 and TSR 1542. 
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Must be able to pass security clearance requirements and required drug testing.

•      Possession of a valid driver’s license suitable for operation of all administration airport vehicles.
