Job Description

 

The role of the Engineering Technician in our software and electrical test department to analyze requirements, translate them into test cases, develop the test bed, and execute tests against software, firmware and over all Avidity Science product. Responsible for gathering test results, test metrics, submitting defects to the development team and updating related documents and team members as to the progress of testing.

About the Role

As an Engineering Technician in our Software and Electrical Test department, you will:

  • Participate in Release and Sprint Planning using Agile methodology and provide work effort estimates to the Delivery Team and/or Manager. 
  • Analyze and review requirements and functional specifications, communicate findings to the Delivery Team as comments, point estimates and/or test cases to achieve Test Driven Development (TDD).
  • Plan and manage personal test environment for Sprint and Acceptance Testing.
  • Write and execute test cases against requirements and functional specifications and create tasks for completion.
  • Communicate work status to the Delivery Team and/or Manager.
  • Execute manual and automated test cases for Regression and Acceptance Testing to ensure proper operation of the software
  • Communicate test results to the Delivery Team and/or Manager.
  • Create and verify defects from various sources.
  • Deploy a software application from scratch in order to test the installation process.
  • Design and execute usability and performance tests.
  • Utilize software code version control/source management and defect management tools.
  • Demonstrate accountability for completing work assignments to meet agreed upon commitments and deadlines.
  • Design and assemble test fixtures for new and existing products.
  • When necessary, travel to customer sites to assist sale and service of our products.
  • Participate on problem solving teams as necessary to resolve product or customer issues.
  • Stay current in new developments in the industry.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of company product development processes.

Position Requirements/Preferences

  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Development, Test Engineering or related and 5 years practical experience in software/hardware development or testing, or a combination of both.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols including RS232, RS422, RS485, Lon Bus and Tone Bus.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP/IP.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Black Box, White Box and Grey Box testing methodology.
  • Knowledge of one or more programming languages (e.g. VB6, VB.Net, C#, ASP.Net, C++, HTML, XML).
  • Knowledge of Automated Testing, running and modify Macros and Scrips
  • Knowledge of vSphere or other Virtual Environments.
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical and electronic technology (e.g. schematics, electrical and electronic design).
  • Knowledge of or experience with regulatory or quality compliance standards / processes: Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA 21 CFR part 11, and ISO9001:2008/ISO9001:2015. Or for example: GAMP, CMM, Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing and business tools, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written business correspondence to individuals or to a group. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, facility drawings, project requirements, and overall customer needs.
  • Ability to translate technical product knowledge to both technical and non-technical customers.
  • Ability to use basic electronic test equipment including VOM, Oscilloscope, hand-held meters, Avidity Science control and monitoring products.
