Our Computational Aerodynamics & Optimization Group is looking for a Mid-Level Computational Fluid Dynamics Lead to join the team in Philadelphia, PA. The CAO group develops and applies advanced aerodynamic analysis and design tools and processes to a wide variety of flight platforms to support programs during all phases of the product life cycle.
Development of CFD solvers to provide high fidelity solutions for rapid aerodynamic analysis and shape optimization
Strong background in computational fluid dynamics with familiarity in integral boundary layer methods and/or wall models a plus
Strong background in numerical methods and algorithms for solving PDEs
Development of CFD models including grid generation
Experience with C/C++, Fortran, & Python programming languages
Familiarity with modern software development and DevOps practices
This position is considered hybrid. There will be some telecommuting and some onsite work required.
Note: The expectation for this role is 3 days onsite and 2 days remote
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) development
Experience with Simcenter STAR-CCM+ CFD simulation
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Master’s degree or PhD or higher
Good communication skills and able to work with a team or individually
Experience analyzing aerodynamic flow-field and extracting engineering data
Experience in compressible & incompressible fluid dynamics
Experience with CFD solver development, verification, and validation
Experience in integral boundary layer methods and/or wall models
Experience in numerical methods suitable to CFD
Experience in scientific programming and code development in C, C++, and Fortran and familiarity with modern software development DevOps practices
Experience thinking outside the box to provide innovative solutions to customers
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
