The Position : We’re looking for a Landscape Foreman to manage and install hardscape and garden projects for a variety of clients in the Madison area. Competitive salary and benefits Performance-based bonuses Ongoing training and education opportunities JOB QUALIFICATIONS Valid and insurable Wisconsin Driver License Currently possess OR are able to obtain a Commercial Driver License Minimum 3 years experience in landscaping, including 2 years as a Crew Leader at AG&L,or 2 years leading crews at another landscaping company. Physical ability to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. and to work a minimum of 8 hours a day performing physical labor Demonstrated ability to operate and maintain landscape related equipment such as medium duty trucks, trailers, skid steer loaders and attachments, tractors, compactors, sod cutters, rototillers, chainsaws, pruning tools, snowplows, salt spreaders, and any other necessary equipment Demonstrated knowledge of landscape plants and construction, including but not limited to: retaining walls, grading, patios, walks, outdoor garden structures, water features, lighting, and irrigation systems. Good planning and organizational skills Ability to manage, train and motivate up to six landscape personnel Ability to work with a wide range of people, alone, or as part of a team General knowledge of Human Resource management Must be available to clear snow during winter months. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES CLIENT RELATIONS Ability to work with a wide range of people Always interact with clients in a respectful manner Handle client questions, concerns, requests, complaints etc. in a professional, business-like and friendly manner Consult with clients on any aspects of landscape installation Communicate with clients to precipitate smooth relations ATTITUDE AND CONDUCT Understands and follows company policies and procedures Maintains a positive, professional work attitude and fosters good relationships between employees and management at all times. Resolve inter-personal conflicts with fellow workers as quickly as possible, whenever possible Maintain professional physical appearance by following company dress code Ensure that company business records such as payroll, financial statements and policies and procedures are kept confidential, unless approval to share information is granted by company manager. SAFETY Work in a safe manner at all times Report all accidents, unsafe conditions, and practices to immediate supervisor as soon as possible Follow safety guidelines for handling and storage of all chemicals, materials, plants, tools, and equipment Always follow safe and legal driving and equipment use practices GENERAL DUTIES Report directly to General Manager and follows direction of General Manager and Landscape Architect or Designer. Maintain and organize records and files related to own work to assure the timely accomplishment of tasks Assist with training of employees Work with coworkers to maintain appearance of Avant property and buildings Participate in meeting all company goals Keep all work areas orderly and neat Completes and turns in all paperwork daily Perform other duties as assigned JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES PERSONNEL Supervises up to 6 landscape crew members Delegate duties to landscape Crew Leaders and Laborers in a constructive and positive manner Report to General Manager regarding Crew Leader and Laborer work performance Participate in interviews and performance reviews of Crew Leaders and Laborers Produce high quality of work and coaches Landscape Laborers on quality standards EQUIPMENT Perform or oversee routine maintenance of vehicles and equipment Report any damage or repairs to equipment to General Manager Oversee and direct loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment Oversee and/or perform daily maintenance check of vehicles (DOT forms) and equipment Assists in coordinating equipment scheduling and rentals with General Manager FIELD WORK Follow estimating standards for job profitability and efficiency by maintaining efficient, steady work pace Coordinate work to maximize efficiency, quality, and profitability Assists in coordinating schedules, equipment, and work priorities with General Manager Manage time, labor, materials and equipment to limit cost overruns Coordinate deliveries/pick-ups of materials ordered by Landscape Architect or Designer Meet with client to process change orders Identifies and notifies Landscape Architect or Designer in advance when cost overruns or ‘Change Orders’ are anticipated Meet with Architect or Designer prior to completion of project, to develop ‘Punch list’ for job completion Perform daily walk through of job site and inspection of job upon completion CONTINUING EDUCATION Keeps up on new trends, products and plants in industry Update knowledge by attending seminars, conferences and classes approved by supervisor Employment Type: Full Time Years Experience: 3 - 5 years Bonus/Commission: Yes
