Automation Engineer (Manufacturing)

As Automation Engineer, you will improve, streamline, and automate the manufacturing processes. This will involve being responsible for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of automation technology. Identifying and implementing advanced manufacturing processes focused on continuous improvement. You will create a strategy for the automation in the facility focused on high yield areas and areas with high ergonomic risk, reduce product cost, and improve quality/productivity.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement process improvements that will reduce labor by simplifying tasks or speeding up the process.
- Design/program full automation systems both mechanically and electrically.
- Program and troubleshoot new and existing equipment.
- Ensure that the safety of all employees is maintained during process changes.
- Improve quality and performance of existing automated equipment to meet key performance metrics (OEE, uptime, yield) by making improvements to the equipment or product design.
- Implement TPM and PM standards on all automated equipment.
- Develop timelines and cost comparisons from various sources.
- Assist Maintenance in the repair and troubleshooting of automated equipment.
- Develop training materials and programs for support staff for automation that has been implemented.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a relevant technical field
- 3+ years of experience with the design and implementation of automated systems, especially as related to manufacturing.
- PLC experience required.
- Superb communication and organizational skills
- Project management skills, ability to lead the project from conception to final implementation.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
