Job Description

Role Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible to ensure all customer requirements are planned and implemented during the entire product life cycle. The Quality Engineer works closely with the Program Launch Team, Operations and Engineering Team to improve product quality and production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Leads the team in the development of the APQP Process from Award of Business through the product lifecycle of the program.

Communicates directly with the customer throughout the launch process and in production for any quality related questions or concerns including 8D Problem Solving.

Leads the Core Team in the development of the MSA Plan and carries this out to the design/build of gaging or fixturing necessary to optimize the process.

Participate in Feasibility Review Meetings as required to support the Quote/Feasibility Review Process.

Use Statistical Methods, identify and monitor critical manufacturing processes, raise the alarm when necessary and implementing solutions and countermeasures to ensure consistent production of quality products.

Gains and maintains professional and technical expertise by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state of the art practices, and participating in professional societies

Participate in design reviews to ensure Quality Assurance requirements will be met (resources, equipment, and design for inspection capability).

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality.

Additional Information

Knowledge and Education:

Minimum of 3 – 5 years in the Quality Engineering Field with experience in New Product Launch.

Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is preferred.

Robust functional knowledge of Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA-VDA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

Solid understanding of other APQP Requirements including MSA.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills as well as, strong organizational skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Excellent Problems Solving, Statistical and Analytical Skills.

Experience with Plex UX or other ERP System Operations.

Solid knowledge and understanding of IATF16949 and Ford Specific Requirements preferred, but not required.

Ability to work with and influence others.
